50 mcg/h Fentanyl Patch

I did something a little stupid today. Within hours of taking 7mg doing (over an 8 hour period) I cut a 50 mcg/h fentanyl patch in two and placed the entire thing between my gums and cheeks. I passed out for 13 hours or so, and remember nothing. Since I woke up I have removed the patches and have been drinking plenty of fluids. I still feel sleepy, but more lucid (and less stumbling around) by the minute.

Anyone else have a similar experience? Should I be okay? I feel that now that I am awake most (if not all) the danger has passes. Oh, and it was a durables patch. Not one of the gel kind.

I once fell asleep with a patch in my mouth for an hour or so and woke up fine...

You will be fine.. just don't do it again. Stay hydrated get some potassium in you.. maybe eat a bananna. Stay awake until the affects are gone.. get some vitamin water or gatoraid.. I would definatly make sure your hydrated and up the electrolytes and potassium. I am glad you're here to tell the story.. a good friend of mine died like this a few months ago.

Seeing as you woke up, you should be fine. The worst case scenario I think would be if you got minor brain damage from hypoxia (though if you're feeling fine, it's very unlikely), and you're lucky not to have vomited while passed out.

What country are you in? If you have free healthcare or insurance, might be worth getting an MRI scan or something, just tell your doctor you banged your head and passed out for a while.

When I said a little after taking 7mg doing that was 7mg k-pin. Sorry for stupid autocorrect. I think I am OK. Half way through a friend called for 2 minutes. She said I sounded tucked, and I remember nothing, but at least I was talking and breathing.

Thanks for the advice!

^ you were very lucky! Fentanyl alone is incredibly dangerous - not just because it is so strong, but because of the ROAs the patches force us to use.. especially mixed with 7mg clonazepam. I really would not mix fentanyl with a benzo, ever, to be honest - the risk of overdose is far too high.. plus if the benzo makes you drowsy/pass out/lose judgement it could cause you to seriously fuck up with the fentanyl.

Anyway! You were okay, phew! :) If you feel okay mentally, I would not worry, but if you don't feel yourself then it might be worth seeing a doctor just to double check as nAON said.

If you had applied the patch transdermally, the risk would still be present as the fentanyl is absorbed into the subcutaneous layer and released continually even after the patch is removed. However, buccal (cheek) administration tends to be pretty instantly absorbed rather than it sitting in the tissues after the patch is gone. However - if you still feel opiated/sedated, do not take any more CNS depressants (I wouldn't anyway today to be honest, after what happened and Klonopin's long half life) and if you are concerned at all take yourself to the ER. It's really not worth the risk.

Thank goodness you were okay <3

I had been finding half a strip not enough on its own, but at least I am awake to experience it. Once in Texas I crouched by the table at the end of the bed, did 3mg k-pin, had a full patch on and put 3/4 of a patch in my mouth. Next thing I know it's 6 hours later and I am crouched in the same position.

I will get the hang of it. In the mean time I am kinda starting to believe in quantum immortality. Hah!

^ please be careful. Fentanyl has killed a lot of people, even smart people who felt they knew what they were doing, it is so easy to think it won't happen to you. You've had a couple of close calls - be thankful you survived and do not assume you are immortal! <3

Good thing you're okay mate!

Now regarding that last bit - I'm right there with ya. But more on a "we have our purpose and time" sorta thing. For all intents and purposes, I should be dead at least 4 times over, once I did actually die and was brought back.

Well, bear in mind that with quantum immortality, it doesn't rule out you surviving but with, for example, brain damage, or paralysis, or incredible pain. So always be careful ;)

Life inherently has copious amounts of the latter of those 3 anyway (physically and / or mentally).

I just hope there's more to death than what I "experienced" - nothing but a completely empty void, like the deepest of sleep, but nothing going on upstairs at all...

Sounds sad & a bit scary, did you feel this way at all?
