Actually one has gone through and calculated percentages for most of the Research Chemicals that have a fairly large number of reports. The average ratio of ‘good; reports’ (Glowing + Mystical Experiences) to ‘bad reports’ (Difficult Experiences + Health Problems) is 1.16 to 1 for the 1705 reports that one looked at. While Erowid probably engenders a not inconsiderable response bias, when you start to get around 100+ reports for a given substance you do start to get a feel for the range of possible effects (though again the proportions are likely skewed).
Still, in the case of the data regarding 5-MeO-DMT noted above, it appears that anecdotal experience, Bluelight reports, and Erowid reports are all in the same ballpark; namely 25%, 50%, 25%. That is to say something akin to a quarter of persons have really bad reactions sometimes with prolonged after-effects, about a quarter of persons have effectively little to no physical or longer-term side-effects, and about half of persons are somewhere between the two camps.
But all this is quite academic, the original intent of the initial post was just to show that abreactions to 5-MeO-DMT are not exceedingly rare. One thinks that the earlier post served its purpose in that regard.
