east coast, baby...yeah
I don't know if this is right forum for this, its sorta a wierd question. But I figure the pill testing mods will know best about police field tests. So I got arrested with 4 capsules of mda powder, and a baggie of 5-HTP powder (7.6 grams), that they thought was coke. They tested the MDA, it popped up as mdxx on their tester, they then tested the 5-HTP, and it popped up as PCP!!! What the fuck? oh, 3 days before this my friend dumped some sort of spice, like cloves in it to fuck around with me, cause he knew I would be eating the shit post roll and he wanted to fuck with my head :P I don't know if that has anything to do with it. I KNOW he didn't dump PCP in it. What the fuck, help a brotha out. It's all good, they lab tested it and proved the 5-HTP harmless and all, but it did pop up on the field test as PCP, what the fuck...

yeah the cops in Toronto screwed my best bud in the same way.
but he had 7 caffeine pills and 2 e's which were the same colour and weight (pretty much) - they tested a couple of the pills, none of the caffeine tabs, and he got charged for having 9 pills instead of just 2.
* i'm no expert, but here's my advice:
before your case goes to trial, supply the police dept. with an unopened bottle of the same 5-HTP pills and a dated receipt from your local health food store or wherever. have them test the new 5-htp and if it comes up as PCP, then that charge will be thrown out in court. OR have the testing done yourself and take the results as evidence with supplemental documents from the test laboratory as defensive evidence.
good luck!

well AFAIK the basic field test for cocaine is the cobalt (something) test which will give an identical reaction coke as it will PCP (blue/green). i havent heard of it giving false positives to 5HTP tho but i've got some of that, aand the tester, so i might try it out and see what happens.
