5-HTP during tramadol withdrawal

A patient was abusing the hell out of her prescription, 12+ tramadols a day. After a fast taper down to 3/day went cold turkey. Patient is comfortable now on Clonazepam at .5mg daily, along with herbal/vitamin relaxants... Kava, Calcium/Magnesium, ect.

I have 5-htp on hand and take it myself sometimes if I'm feeling a bit down... however I'm worried about the patients lowered seizure threshold due to tramadol w/d and 5-HTP.

Would it be safe to administer during day 4 of withdrawal? I know tramadol and 5-htp interact horribly when taken together... but during withdrawal could it help?

I have a feeling its a bad idea I just wanted to ask.

Did you find the answer to your question? Yes 5-HTP is helpful in withdrawal and not dangerous if you are taking it when in withdrawal.
