Dear forum members, I came across some archived discussions on this forum about use of 5 htp and its possible effects with alcohol and I wanted to share my opinion on it.
I have not used 5 htp with alcohol and only took it with one day gap from alcohol but I felt very de-hydrated after taking 5 htp. I was so dehydrated that despite after repeated intake of water I didn't feel the need to urinate. It made me feel very fatigued and my arms were almost powerless and also my heart was beating very fast throughout the day.
The next time I took 5 htp and drinked a lot of water after that, I felt better and didn't feel any bad effects except excessive drowsiness which is the main effect of this drug. I also felt a bit happier on second doze.
So what does it tell about its effects on alochol? We know alcohol also dehydrates us so if 5 htp is taken with alcohol (even with 6 hours gap) then it may lead to severe dehydration that may be causing the adverse effects that some people have reported in other threads.
