I'm interested as to what the mental effects of serotonin agonists would be like, particularily the Triptans (Sumatriptan, Naratriptan, Zolmitriptan, and possibly the triptan with the widest variety of 5-HT subtype affinity, Eletriptan)
Most triptans lack affinity for the 5-HT2a receptors, so there is a real lack of any hallucinogenic effects, but perhaps because of their affinity of other 5-HT subtypes (particularily the 5-HT1a, 5-HT1d) they would have empathogenic, anxiolytic, and euphoriant type effects, perhaps in higher doses.
Someone I know, who had know prior knowledge as to the method of action of sumatriptan, ingested sumatriptan for treatment of a migraine as prescribed by her doctor. About an hour and a half after ingestion, she reported effects one might expect from a 5-HT agonist, including euphoria.
