So I understand 5-APDB is 5-(2-aminopropyl)2,3-dihydrobenzofuran. Sometimes it is referred to as 3-desoxy-MDA. How accurate is the 3-desoxy-MDA nomenclature considering that not only is there not an oxygen at that position, instead it is substituted with a carbon? I feel like there is a 3rd informal way of naming it that would be more accurate on all fronts while still containing the 'MDA' part to make it more clear that this is a true analog of MDA. Thank you

3-desoxy-MDA is just a nickname. The oxygen normally at the 3' position on MDA has been replaced with a methylene CH2.
