5-(2-Aminopropyl)indane (API) ?

out of interest, what is this substance? it is mentioned in the August 04 Microgram, but without information and there is no Erowid vault nor anything on the search engine? apparently its a indanylamphetamine? anyone know? probably not that interesting its just the only one on the list I had never heard about :)

aye I know, just wondering was that really means, just another obscure MD type stimulant ?
 
Indanylamphetamine is one of Nichols's substances. See J Med Chem 1993, 36, p.3700.

The compound showed activity in animal experiments, but did not substitute for (S)-amphetamine in trained rats.

It's guessed in the paper that this compound is closer to MDA than to pure serotonine-releasers (without a catecholaminergic component) in respect of behavioural effects. But as there are no follow-up papers, it's still speculation, until today.

^ah yes just fund that on designer Drugs, is the indanylaminopropane (IAP) Erowid vault the same chemical as API? either way it doesn't sound too exciting

alright, just wondering, I don't know enough about chemistry or pharmacology, I was jut curious to what it was, evening all
 
IAP & amphetamine does a bloody good impersonation of MDA, but without the hideous comedown. I wish I could still get ahold of some as I loved the stuff. It's basically like MDA without as much dopaminergic activity (hence the addition of a pinch of amphetamine)

With cannabis it produced the most intricate, velvety CEVs I've ever encountered. On it's own (well with a pinch of speed) it produces the MDA like visuals


PS the IAP comes from IndanylAminoPropane (indanylamphetamine is actually incorrect as it implies that there should be two benzene rings in the molecule)

You'd end up with something akin to the analogous benzofurans (Shulgin discusses one of the derivatives with the 2-aminopropyl chain moved to the 5 position under the AMT entry in TIHKAL - apparently it's just a plain stimulant)

That does sound like fun--and should be a great deal less neurotoxic than MDA/MDMA, as there would be no nasty 3,4-dihydroxy-5-glutathionyl-amphetamine pro-oxidant metabolites. Those oxygens on MDMA are huge liabilities when it comes to metabolism--turning a fun compound into a free-radical freak fest, with the quinones and the oxidation and the biting with the metal teeth, m'flavin.

I wonder why indanylamphetamine is an almost entirely serotonergic amphetamine when both 3-methyl- and 4-methyl-amphetamine are more effective NET and DAT substrates (well, 3-methyl-amp is pretty much equal at all three monoamine transporters)?

this re-intrigues me. why would it be that non-selective monoamine release causes THOSE hallucinations (eg, seeing nonexistent glasses on someone)?
