^ Yep, look at mephedrone - known really unpleasant & dangerous side effects, yet people still lust after it and do shitloads if they get the chance.
On the plus side, some of the aminorex derivatives seem much less inclined towards nasty side effects. If it's going to be out there, all we can do is be vigilant for tell tale signs that things are going wrong - less than one would like, but what else can be done?
PS You can't compare amphet etc SAR studies with this one, for instance, the most active of the series (aminorex) doesn't have an alpha carbon substitution; the analogous one of the amphetamine series would be phenethylamine, which doesn't do much unless you inhibit enzymes that it's not really a good idea to inhibit (MAO). This is unknown territory and requires that people tread very carefully...
