so I was 4 days clean from oxycontin.

Was a painful 4 days, then I don't know why....

...why!

I went down and got 2 more. Now I'm not clean anymore!

I have to go through a week more of pain now.

I am not really saying anything in this post except that, I broke down.

My question is to people who have quit oxycontin, how long does it take you after your last line, to no longer feel the pain to do another (both physical & mental)

My first break was 4 days ago, and I only lasted 4 days. It hurt like hell. My body hurted all over, and I just felt this anxiety all over. I have made a commitement to make this last little batch, be my last. I am just curious, to how long will I feel the pain afterwards. I average about 80 mg a day.

Cold turkey.

you will have the urge to doit months, then it will slowly dissapear but cravings will ALWAYS be there, shouldn't all of these damn "i'm 30 minutes clean" or "i'm 7 months clean" posts be in the dark side?

Mentally, four days is not even the beginning of it.
Sorry.
Maybe you should try to think in terms of cutting back. Like "in four days I only took two". That is pretty damn good when you really think about it.
To knock yourself down that soon into trying to stop is just setting yourself up for dissappointment.
Nothing comes easy, but that doesn't mean it doesn't come at all.

:\

Be Strong!

So you slipped! So what? so long as your goal is to get clean take as long as you need, don't beat yourself up about it,that only makes it harder the next time . You knew it wasn't going to be easy, that does't mean it's impossible.
Best of luck, keep focused and try again.

if i was u i'd try tapering or switch to a weaker opiate. The more you keep trying and failing the worse it gets. But the end result is worth it. dont beat yourself up for failing but dont give up either. Buprenorphine is a great way to get off many opiates, dont know whether you can get it where you are though. You also may want to consider naltrexone (a blocker) for those vulnerable weeks ahead where the depression and cravings are at their worse. Good luck.

It's been months since I took a benzo and at least two years since I took any 'real' opiate for recreational purposes.

Yet just thinking about them still seems to increase my bloodpressure and I have to smoke a cigarette and drink some beer to get my mind of it.

It's never gonna go away completely, you're always gonna want to more and more. A good start might be to switch to a weaker opiate...

Oh, man, now I'm probably gonna go out looking for some OTC codeine tomorrow :(

And the cycle begins...

Most opiate will go thru this cycle of quitting and then starting over and over again.. I do it myself..

If you really want to quit you need to totally isolate yourself from your opiate sources.(Which i know can be damn near impossible unless you move outta state).. Dont be suprised to find yourself driving extremly long distances, at any hour, for any price... Its the nature of the demon..

If you think you can keep from the temptation, then get youself a handful of xanax(maybe weed too), ibuprofen, and immodium... For the first 3-5 days you should keep yourself sedated pretty well.. Then you can taper off that shit(UNless you are really addicted, in which case you might wanna taper opiates first.. Howeverm if you went four days you can do this.) Since I started using opiates a few years ago, Ive been able to quit for one 6 month period and one 3 month period.

After the withdrawls your faced with cravings.. I found that everytime I got a craving, I would just smoke myself stupid.. to the point where i forgot what an opiate was.. Eventually the cravings move from the front to the back of your mind, and then they go away, only to pop up every once and awhile... Its really that first 2-3 weeks that suck.. After that your body kinda gets used to the fact that its not gonna get what it wants, and moves on to some other important matter. Still, it really helps to not bew able to get opiates whenever you want.

I laugh at people who are addicted to their ciggarettes and caffiene..

I have to go through a week more of pain now.

I am not really saying anything in this post except that, I broke down.

It happens. I've done it numerous times.

Sometimes if you can just take small doses that don't get you high, it helps get you through the withdrawals.

I've always wished I could have someone just give me a tiny bit to get through a week or two and ease through the withdrawals very gradually than doing cold turkey.

My question is to people who have quit oxycontin, how long does it take you after your last line, to no longer feel the pain to do another (both physical & mental)

It really depends on the individual.

Physically, you'll be okay in about a week.

Some people feel depressed for 2-4 weeks after they quit (but it's worth it if you're so addicted that you go through really bad withdrawals because once it's all over you'll feel much better than you ever did while you were using).

Cravings can last for months. But they get more and more manageable as time goes on.

The only advice i can give is: Stay away from anyone who uses them, all of your associates, and etc. They will not help. You may feel lonely and miss the lifestyle but it will look up and you will find all of those peeps suck balls anyway in the long run. Keep off of them, it can ruin your life. You know all of this. Good luck man.

Rational Recovery

If you're really really serious about quitting (and it seems like you are) I would suggest reading Rational Recovery while detoxing (don't read it while you're high) I was clean for 2 months when I read it and it helped me come to grips with the idea of never using again, plus this will definately help you get through that first week of hell.
As far as feeling minimal pain I think you already got some great advice for otc meds that help a lot. Try to do something to take your mind off the pain. Have someone massage your back if you can--that really helps. My aunt prayed out loud for me, that helped me fall asleep...
Don't beat yourself up over using after 4 days, it's okay...we've all been through those few days of trying to quit then giving in. But Rational Recovery explains why we keep going back, and shows you how you can quit alone easily.
I wish you the best. :)
