Let me begin by saying this: Last night was one of the most powerful psychedelic experiences of my life.

It was completely and utterly psychedelic in the true sense of the word: mind-manifesting. In retrospect, this experience completely blows the majority of my previous trips right of the water in both visual and introspective intensity.

Set & Setting:

I am a 20-year-old male that is moderately experienced with psychedelics. I have tripped many times before but I still feel like a child in the realm of psychedelics, especially after having a trip like this. I feel I have just begun to scratch the surface of what can be experienced.

This is my last week of summer before I have to go back to school and I really wanted this to be an intense experience. I am not sure when I will have another chance to have a heavy trip. Because of this, I decided to go straight for a relatively strong dose: ~20mg oral.

I also ate a firecracker with about .4g cannabis in it about 45 minute to an hour before dosing. This definitely got me quite stoned. It is hard to say exactly how much it affected the experience but I would say it most likely made it that much more visual and intense.

The Trip:

8:00pm T + 0:00- Dissolved 20mg 4-Aco-DMT in some gatorade. Drink about 50% of it and go to play some video games while it is coming up.

Within 10 to 15 minutes I can feel the chemical begin to take effect. My actions on screen become quite clumsy but I was still enjoying the game. I had eaten a meal about an hour before so I was surprised at how quickly it was coming on.

T + 0:25- It is coming on strong and fast. At this point the game is just disorienting me and has stopped being enjoyable. I can see the walls and the colors projected on them from the light of the TV slowly beginning to morph, blend, and shift.

I shut the TV off and go drink down the remaining 50%. Contradicting many of the reports I read, this chemical was making me feel pretty nauseous although it never got as bad as my last mushroom trip which was completely marred by nausea and body load.

T + 0:45- CEVs have begun to peek in. The body load is becoming fairly uncomfortable. I find it almost dysphoric and in this it is very similar to my mushroom trips. I decide to play some music and smoke some weed to try to dispel some of these feelings. I put on the new album from one of my favorite saxophonists: Ultrahang by Chris Potter. Absolutely beautiful jazz/funk/rock fusion.

T + 1:00- As the cannabis begins to take effect it manages to sooth my stomach a bit and puts me in a more comfortable state. I am feeling somewhat disoriented and there is little else I can do right now other than just lie down on my couch and let the drug do what it wants. After this point I experience extreme time dilation such that guessing the time is largely useless.

I am quickly over taken by the drug and am descending into a deep trance. Organic fractal visions bloom behind my eyelids. By organic I mean that many of the visions had a biological theme to them. Some of the designs almost seemed as if they were pulled from a textbook chapter on microscopic cell structures.

As one song ended and a new one began I was given a chance to collect myself and become aware of how quickly the trip had changed. I was now feeling quite euphoric and relaxed. I had the distinct feeling that the music was responsible for this. It seemed to have become entirely integral in defining my trip.

The next song switched to more soothing and relaxing tone with a beautiful melody that soon opens up into incredible communication and improvisation between the musicians. I lie back down and again enter a trance, now descending even deeper than before.

This next part is very difficult to describe. I began to feel an intense warmth and energy collecting around my body and a distinct visual pattern began to emerge. It was a fractal: uniform and repeating, blue in color. I had the distinct feeling that the physical and visual feelings were connected. It felt like I was being engulfed by a cocoon of energy that slowly inched and slithered its way up around and into my body, encasing me in a shell of gooey euphoria. With each shift in physical and emotional sensation came a corresponding change in my vision.

I had my hands closed to my face blocking out the light from going through my eyelids. The visuals seemed to ooze in through my hands into my eyes until it was all focused on a single nexus of bright white light in front of my face surrounded by an endlessly repeating web of dark blue geometry.

Eventually I exited the trance and switched the music off to reflect on what I had experienced. The only thing comparable to the character and intensity of this is smoked DMT. I am left feeling absolutely blissful and I even shed a few tears at the beauty of what I just witnessed. I would have been satisfied if the trip ended here but it was most definitely not done with me yet.

As a sat back to relax and collect myself my consciousness become flooded with thoughts. All my deepest anxieties and insecurities came pouring out of my subconscious. I was forced to view myself and my situation in life in a completely uncompromising matter. No excuses or justifications to distract me from seeing what I am. Much of it was focused on how I am a very reserved and introspective person and how I have a very difficult time relating to other people.

I have never had a serious romantic relationship as I have never met any women that I could really relate to and feel comfortable with to that degree. None of this is helped by the fact that I have a somewhat crippling social anxiety, which keeps me from starting up conversations with unknowns. All this came to a head and I was forced to confront the frustration with my situation. Dwelling on this and seeing no easy answer caused me to enter quite a depressing head space for a period of time. If I decided to abort the trip here and leave this unresolved it could have had pretty negative consequences.

Instead, I forced my self to find the positive thread in all this to attempt to apply this insight to my life in a meaningful way. I did this by putting life into purely practical and simple terms. I reminded myself that the most pertinent goal of life is to try minimize negative feelings and maximize positive feelings. In order to do this we must know as much as possible about ourselves to understand what makes us tick. We must use our reasoning abilities to interface with the emotional part of our mind that supplies the pleasure that drives us. This sometimes includes undergoing experiences of somewhat negative stimulation in order to insure greater positive pay off in the future.

I recognize that one of the greatest potential sources of positive stimulation for human beings is novelty. For me, one of the most interesting things about psychedelics is their ability to generate novelty. The ability to take a drug and experience an infinite cascade of sensations is the ultimate novelty. Thus the major lessons of the trip emerged:

I must always strive to keep myself open to and seek out new experience that have potential to yield pleasure. I cannot allow irrational fears to cause me to lose sight of this. I must accept that my situation isn't going to be fixed overnight. The most important thing I can do is to keep myself healthy, lucid, and aware in order to maintain the best disposition to experience novelty. I cannot give up and must continue to try to improve my circumstances by remaining open to new experiences and not giving up. I must not allow myself to stagnate as a person.

After clawing my way out from the deep dark hole I fell in I allowed myself to come to rest in a positive space. Although alot of other introspection went on after this, the trip leveled out from here and I spent much of the rest of this experience listening to different music. Beethoven's 5th Symphony was particularly engaging and beautiful.

Retrospective:

This definitely counts as one of, if not the most powerful psychedelic experience I have had to date. After this trip I can say with certainty that 4-Aco-DMT is absolutely one of my favorite psychedelics of all time. I found it actually has more in common with DMT than with mushrooms. The experience was almost like a long smoked DMT trip. I came up quite fast even with splitting my dose up and I was quickly launched into a trance. Like DMT I felt a strong inclination to just close my eyes and allow the chemical to have it's way with me.

After this peak subsided it become much more of a classic trip and again I see the similarities of coming down from a breakthrough dose of DMT although it is quite a bit more useful because it last much longer and the thoughts are less fleeting.

I would have to say that this chemical is not really recreational, at least not at this dosage. It is incredible how much it contrasts with other chemicals. I would describe this experience as being quite difficult at times. Not at all light hearted. These moments of inner turmoil serve as a foil for the pure bliss that can be experienced.

This was a great read. Congratulations on having such a meaningful and cathartic experience. Having only tried 12 mg of the fumarate salt orally I was curious to try at a higher dose but hadn't had the opportunity. I had considered 20mg but your report tells me that 15-18 might be better.

I loved that report. Some of the detail of the visuals you experienced and their connection to your physical state were almost identical or simillar to experiences I had with this really special substance. I found echoes in the potential for deep personal realisations which you described. It was all expressed really well - great stuff. 4-AcO-DMT is one of my favorites for sure. I like to keep some in the vault for a rainy day.
Peace - Pipp.

Nice read. I know this is about a month old but I have some questions.

Was the cannabis more on the sativa or Indica side? I have done 4-aco-dmt 3 times. The first was at 20mg (liquid solution) and i did not get any strong visuals, the walls moved and such but nothing comparable to shrooms or lsd. I had nausea but it was not too bad. The second time i tried 30mg (liquid solution) and had horrible nausea. I was sick the whole trip. Also, visuals seemed less than the 20mg. I than tried 10mgs (liquid solution) and got detail enhancement but really no visuals. Nausea was still there but about half as bad as the 20mg.

My solution is 500mg in 100ml of a alchohol/h20 solution.

Anyways, i have yet to smoke marijuana on the substance. I recall smoking on 2c-e and 2c-c and it for some weird reason made the visuals lessen in intensity. Would you reccomend smoking on the come up or maybe in the middle?

I can't remember for sure exactly what type of bud I was smoking at the time of this report but in all likely hood it was an indica dominant strain. I believe that the firecracker i ate probably also went a long way toward turning up the dial on visual intensity for this trip. On the times where I have eating cannabis treats with LSD my trips have been exceedingly visual.

I have never noticed any form of cannabis to dampen my visuals though. My usually smoking ritual for tripping is that I will smoke a bit before I dose just to relax a little and then after that I will wait until I feel the substance is peaking or about to peak to smoke a little more. I don't like to be too stoned while i'm coming up because it can add to the confusion.

That said, with something like 2c-e which gives me horrible nausea I would probably smoke as much as needed to try to quench it.

Edit: Now that I think about it. I may have also taken a bong hit of kief on this trip which could partially account for it's surprising intensity.=D

If you swallow 4-AcO-DMT it gets metabolized by liver first pass metabolism to 4-OH-DMT (psilocin), right? Same way as heroin gets metabolized to morphine if you swallow it but if you snort/smoke/iv it then it will cross to the brain faster (since -OAc is less polar than -OH).

^And another point on this: why don't people extract psilocin/psylocibin from shrooms? Well I guess it's too much effort and it's best not to waste precious mushrooms like those.
