I have been taking MDMA in moderate doses for about 4 years now. I still completely enjoy the drug, but I have wanted to take the experience to another level. At first I had the urge to take MDMA in a setting where I was all by myself, mostly for some therapeutic and self reflection reasons, but I was recently given the opportunity to take it with 4-acO-DMT.
There were three of us that were going to take the 4-acO-DMT; I was the only one in the group to mix it with MDMA. I took a dose of 125mg of MDMA, and 25 mg of 4-acO-DMT. Prior to dosing we had made the living room look like a “trip haven”, we brought out all the electric lamps, lava lamps, black lights, and we also put on the DVD, “Paul Oakenfold – Voyage into Trance” which is a pretty cool trip screen/music DVD.
We dosed around 8:30 pm, and it took about an hour for the initial come-up to begin. I could tell immediately when I began to feel the MDMA. I could feel the body tingles and I couldn’t stop smiling. I still really wasn’t sure what to expect at this point, I wasn’t sure which drug would be more powerful, initially I thought it would be the MDMA.
Once the initial onset started, things began to progress very quickly, and it became quite clear that the focus of this adventure was going to be the psychedelic 4-acO-DMT trip. I began to experience subtle hallucinations. I also noticed that my heart was racing a little bit; I attributed it to the MDMA, even though I had never experienced that before while on MDMA. While I was sitting on the couch I remember looking down at the kitchen floor and seeing what I thought were footprints which morphed into these flower-like shapes, I tried explaining it to the other people in the group, but to no avail.
We had been watching the trip screen and listening to music when I decided I would be more comfortable sprawled out on the floor. The visuals were getting much stronger at this point. Once I was on the floor it was almost too much for me to watch the trip screen anymore, so I began focusing on different objects around the room. I looked down at the carpet and it no longer looked like a carpet. I could see the individual strands of carpeting and it looked like some type of rubbery substance. While lying on the floor I began to get quite disoriented. I looked up at the ceiling fan and it no longer looked like a ceiling fan, the blades began morphing. I also noticed that colors were looking much brighter; everything seemed to have taken on a florescent glow. I began to notice iridescent color patterns and shapes in the air; it was as if every empty space was being filled with bright color and patterns. Objects around the room began morphing and patterns began emerging, I had never experienced anything quite like it in my life. It was almost as if every object began taking on a life of its own.
Eventually I had the urge to venture outside. Initially I went outside alone, but I was only out there for a matter of seconds before I went back inside and got the other two people in the group to come outside with me. It looked completely amazing outside, even though it felt freezing cold. It was as if I could see every single star in the sky with vivid clarity and color, I just could not stop thinking about how beautiful everything looked. At this point I really began to notice that I had lost quite a bit of my motor skills. It was getting increasingly difficult to walk and function properly; my body would not do what I wanted it to do. I tried walking around a little bit, but I felt like I was constantly stumbling.
We came back into the house and I went into the bedroom to try to play some music on the computer which was extremely difficult since I was having issues moving and focusing. Somehow I got this rendition of “Crash” by Dave Matthews to play on the computer, for some reason it was the most perfect song for that particular moment. This version that I had was much more instrumental to the point where it took me a few minutes to figure out what song I was listening to. I could actually feel the music in my body.
The most intense part of the trip probably lasted for about 2 or 3 hours (I did experience time distortion), and gradually the trip shifted gears from a strictly visual experience to a more mental experience. Since I had wanted to take the MDMA as a way to get some things in my life straightened out, I thought this would be a good time to begin jotting down some notes of thoughts that I had been having. I was still tripping really hard and having strong visuals at this point, but I wasn’t experiencing the strong disorientation that I had been feeling before. I was able to collect some of my thoughts and get some key points written down. I’m not sure how people manage to write or draw while they are tripping, for me it was extremely difficult and my notes are almost illegible.
During hours 4 and 5, the intensity began to die down, I began to gain back my motor skills and I could focus a lot more. It was still difficult for me to speak for some reason. I was trying to have a conversation and I would just get lost associating words with their meaning. I just could not get out everything that I wanted to say.
This was probably one of the best psychedelic experiences that I have ever had. It was incredibly euphoric, and I think the MDMA allowed me to “feel” the trip instead of just seeing and thinking the trip. MDMA is a remarkable enhancer of 4-acO-DMT. I have never had an experience quite like it, and it is definitely a place that I would enjoy venturing back to.
