My first attempt to plug midazolam involved a total of 37.5mg, taken via took rectal syringes.

It failed to bring me any effects that vaguely matched my expectations.

Questioning the authenticity of my 7.5mg dormicums, I decided to dose myself with enough midazolam to ensure that I could answer the question that was burning into my skull - was there anything in these pills, at all?

I boiled enough water to fill a 5ml syringe and crushed 5x7.5mg tablets into a fine powder. As before, I lubed myself up after showering and lay on my bed before inserting the now lukewarm solution.

I felt my heart beating hard in anticipation. I kept waiting for it to slow, slow...slow...

nothing.

I repeated the boiling of water, crushed five more, took another shower and applied more lube.

Second time - > nothing.

Verdict : bunk pills. Looked good, blister packed but bunk nonetheless.

I rectally administered 75mg of *midazolam* in less than 30 minutes without feeling anything. Whilst I accept that my prescription med. carbamazapine (1000mg/day) can reduce oral efficiency of diazepam and other benzos (50% reduction of oral diazepam efficiency witnessed in a patient taking 300mg carbamazepine/day) I REFUSE to believe that it could totally negate the effects of such a strong benzo taken via rectal admin.

I hope that enough people read this trip report. We all know that some of the more exotic meds are seemingly available through sources that are surprisingly accessible to anyone with internet access - the authenticity of every source should be questioned, even if previous experiences have been positive.

Thank you for reading.

I'd suggest trying the pills orally before drawing any conclusions. Lots of factors can influence the efficacy of rectal administration. That said, I have received very weak benzos from international sources in the past. India, in particular, is known to have a large industry of counterfeit pill manufacture.

The problem with me trying to comment on the oral efficacy of midazolam is that the drug has such poor bioavailability when administered this way - less than 40%.

This figure is for typical patients who aren't taking a drug that induces enzyme activity in the 3A4 enzyme that midazolam requires for hydroxylation to its active metabolite. Carbamazepine, my anti-convuslant, induces the 3A4 enzyme so oral bioavailabity for me could be practically anything - 1%, 5%, 10% ... it's all speculative but I've tried taking these pills orally and it certainly feels more like 1% than anything else.

Actually, you should be getting better hydroxylation. Induction is the opposite of inhibition, your tegretol is causing the enzyme to be more active, increasing the rate at which the midazolam is metabolized to the active epoxide.

Midazolam is used rectally, usually in kids at doses around 0.5 mg/kg. I would really question the source of those tabs if you didn't feel anything and don't have a tolerance to that drug already.

Ah! Yes, this is definitely true - the midazolam is metabolised more quickly through increased hydroxylation and that is why tegretol would be linked to decreased effects for benzos metabolised through the liver, correct?

I'm waiting for a response after doing exactly that - in fact, it's been a rather long wait so I'm taking it as an admission of guilt.

I had some 15 mg Dormicums not that long ago and I elected to IV them. They were by far the most intense benzo I have ever experienced. I have an exceptionally high tolerance and IV'd just shy of 30 mg after testing the waters with them through several MOA's. I had received 2.5 mg IV pre-op before orthopedic surgery and was VERY discouraged with the buzz (or lack thereof). So, I obtained some through an IOP and decided to take measures into my own hands. If you'd like to know more ;) PM me...
