This is a list of reactions I have compiled .. these were either DONE by me, WITINESSED by me, done by someone I know to be reliable, or published in an accurate publication ..
I won't go into an attempted explanation of the variations in color - this is to give you an IDEA what you're getting .. feel free to challenge any of these, but please have something to back your claim up with ..
MDMA = light purple/blue to DARK purple
MDA = light purple/blue to DARK purple
MDEA = light purple/blue to DARK purple
Amphetamine = orange to a slightly brownish color
Methamphetamine = orange to a brownish color
DMT = green/yellow
DET = green/yellow
Mescaline = orange
PCP = purple
Heroin = purple
Cocaine = purple
LSD = grey
2C-B = green
2C-T-2 = orange to "rusty" red
2C-T-7 = orange to "rusty" red
5-MeO-DiPT = fizzes, then yellow to brownish-orange
DOM (STP) = yellow to green
DOB = olive green
DPT = olive green
DIPT = fizzes, then bright (neon) yellow
PMA = no color change
BZP = no color change, but it will fizz a little
AMT = brownish-yellow
Psilocybine = orange
Alpha-Methyl-DiPT = fizzes then brown
4-Acetoxy-DiPT = dark olive green
Ephedrine = yellow to yellowish brown
Yohimbine = fizzes, then olive green
Harmine = fizzes, then rusty orange
The following have NOT been confirmed, but have been said to be true -

Lysergamide = blue
Psilocine = purple to purplish-blue
Procaine = purple to purplish-blue

Many of the things listed are as turning purple...how do you know the diff between dark or light or normal or half purple or blueish purple or whatever?

Those that say purple are best described as LIGHTER then an MDxx rxn .. the color is unmistakably purple - not really blue .. the only thing that really varries is the shade .. some are lighter in color then others .. if you have some unknown powder, you probably wont be able to use the list to identify it .. but if you have a powder you suspect may be something, you can use the list to confirm ..

Heroin = purple
I always thought that heroin would go blue-ish ??
The (Marquis) testers the DEA uses (yes, we have one) says so too.
And by the way, the list is nice of course but it strongly recommended NOT to use EZ to test for these substances. Other reagents are probably better to so.
The EZ Test was designed to distinguish between mdxx and other substances only.
(If it goes darkpurple/almost black it is an xtc like substance, any other color indicates a non xtc like substance, could be anything)

i concur, although I would say that there is a use for it detecting DXM as well... with the smoking and the taking 10 seconds or so to change to grey... (at least with a lot of what i've seen/heard)

I always saw the heroin rxn as more purple then blue.. I have personally done that test several times, each time, with differn't 'batches' of heroin .. it was always a distinct purple color ..

I don't see anything wrong with using the EZ test for other drugs .. as for now, there is really NOTHING else thats available to the public, easy to use, and cheap for testing drugs ..
As I said, you can't take an unknown chemical and use that list to tell what it is, but lets say you have someone who claims to be selling some drug you're not sure of - the EZ test could help in proving or disproving the contents ..

"the EZ test could help in proving or disproving the contents .."
Yep, it _could_ help sounds a lot better than "it will help".
Suble differences, use it any way you like but keep in mind that it is not the best way to find out the contents.

On the subject of TLC plates I found this link on Rhodium links page www.protest.force9.co.uk/ It seems to be fairly good value for money - has anyone got the necessary knowledge about these things to comment on whether or not they would be worth getting for more accurate testing?
aj - any plans to move into this area with EZ-test?

I get something like file not found ??
I don't think there will be a move into that stuff soon. Ewoud is more into product development. Also, we might have something better than that....
