...just quoting what you said, yes it does seem a bit absurd. Getting those two particular components in a pill seems a very unlikely mix to begin with, and to say that you can tell what they are from reagent tests seem a bit far-fetched. If anyone from dancesafe wants to correct me on this, and give me the exact reagents used, and what tests overide the others then I'll be happy for you to post...
There are a couple of reagent tests you can use for DXM.
One of them is the standard Marquis reagent. This is the one everyone knows. Purple->black for MDMA, orange for speed, green for 2cb etc. If your substance was just plain DXM it would turn a smokey grey to black and emit smoke. This is not to be confused with a strong MDMA sample that will smoke at the start and turn purple->black.
The other test is to use the Mecke reagent. Info and colour charts found
here .
2CT7 will react to both Marquis reagent (pure sample only, will turn a very pale green from memory) and also to Mecke.
Basically to say that you have both together is very interesting because your DXM reaction will certainly overide your 2CT7 reaction in Marquis. I doubt that Mecke will turn a completely different colour again to say you have a mix, and almost certaintly one reaction will overide the other.
Saying all that aside, assuming these two reagents were used you can safely say:
1. The substance is NOT MDMA,MDA ec
2. The substance is NOT speed
3. The substance is NOT an opiate
...so whats left? An unknown. I recommend to your friend to throw that particular pill away and buy yourself a marquis reagent tester and test your pills before you buy.
