2C-T-2 Question

My supplier has the following chemical listed as one of their compounds they sell:
N-(2-(2,5-dimethoxyphenyl)ethyl)phthalimide
For any of you chemistry wizards out there, is that chemical compound 2C-T-2???
2,5-dimethoxy-4-ethylthiophenthylamine is the name for 2C-T-2 on Erowid... they look very very similar...

No it's not. It's a precursor for making 2C-I.

wtf is a 2-C-I precursor??? Couldnt they just sell pure complete 2C-I?

2C-I is part of the analouge act - so technically illegal
but you can always play scientist and create new things

That makes no sense to me.
5-meo-dipt and 5-meo-amt also fall under the analog drug act do they not??? Ive heard of people being prosecuted for selling 5-meo-dipt... yet theres dozens of suppliers who sell these, as well as 2c-t-2..
So if 2C-I, 2C-C, 2C-D and 2C-T-2 where sold as research chemicals not meant for human consumption like 5-meo-dipt and 5-meo-amt are sold like, wouldnt it be perfectly legal for the companies to sell them without facing penalties in the analog drug acts??? It seems logical to me, and since ive seen 2C-T-2 for sale from vendors doing the same thing... why would somone sell a precursor to 2C-I when they could just legally sell 2C-I itself?

Sigh... they'd sell the precursor because it's straight up legal, because they can't get the real thing, lots of reasons. And it's not a precursor in the sense that GBL is a GHB precursor, it takes lots of skilled work to turn into 2C-I. Look at the PIHKAL 2C-I synthesis. A good rule of thumb is, 'If you don't know what it is, it's of no use to you.'

AMT is one methyl group away from AET
DPT is two of them away from DMT
2c-t-2 is awfully close to 2c-t-7
red fish, blue fish "substantially similar" etc.
I wish people did not assume that any of these compounds are flat out legal, because when push comes to shove, we all know what is going to happen.
