2C-I testing

Well this certainly sucks. A friend of mine was interested in trying some of the 2C-I that I had. I gave him a gelcap about a week ago and said he had planned on taking it at the club in a couple days. I suggested a more stable enviroment for the stuff seeing how it was his first time with 2C-I, but he said he feels most comfortable being around people when he does any psychadelic for a first time, so Im not going to deny him that. So I run into him and he asks me 'Dude, you say that shit is legal right?' and Im like 'Technically, yeah, but it can still be treated like an illegal drug depending on the police.' and he says 'Shit man, cuz I got pulled over by a cop who was just running plates and he found out that I was driving on a suspended.' (i was not aware of this and the fact he dresses like a hippy doesnt help either) He says 'So anyway, I spend the night down in jail, and they let me out the next day, but i open up my tin and my pill is missing along with that small bottle of cologne, and the cops havent mentioned anything to me about it so I have no clue. Can they test for that stuff?'

Unable to give a 100% accurate answer, I told him 'Possible, but not likely'.
So Ive been looking around at test kits to see what they look for. I notice they can test for 2C-T-7, but with 2C-I being so uncommon, Im hoping that it would come up for some other 2C-* derivative. Hopefully he just lost the stuff or the cops used some kinda 2-minute test that gave no result for the chem and they wrote it off as a fake pill. :(
 
They can certainly test it (if nothing else GCMS would do the trick) but depending on how stupid they might be, not likely....

I'm pretty sure that you can Marquis test for 2C-B, with a positive ID given by a green reaction product. I don't see any reason why 2C-I should be any different.
 
Marquis test works fine to help detect 2C-I. It gives a similiar reaction as 2C-B. First however (unlike 2C-B) it goes brown, but after five minutes or so the unmistakable forest-green color emerges and looks just like the reaction marquis gives to 2C-B. Perhaps 2C-I is a shade lighter. 2C-C is also the similiar. It will eventually turn green on contact with marquis.

I wonder if 2C-F (the only other 2C besides 2C-B, 2C-C, and 2C-I with a halogen element at the 4-position) would also turn green on contact with marquis.
 
actually the marquis color always goes green after a few minutes... even MDXX goes green after a few minutes.

I might be wrong... but green is what MDXX turns after a while.
 
No marquis does not always go green. One day I tested 9 different drugs on one plate with marquis. The plate sat out for several hours. Only the 2C-B, 2C-C, and 2C-I were green, even after 2 hours.
 
I've seen green reactions occur over time, but this was with a tester that wasn't necessarily kept in the best manner. This might explain your results roliepolie.
 
I keep my testers(yes, plural... I have about 15 of them, as I test for parties and such) in the refrigerator...

and I only take them out when I use them... and all 15 of them are completely gone within 6 months... I dont' see that being the case.

MDMA goes flash of green before it goes purple as well, but it's almost unnoticable..

I guess all 2C's since chemically similar would have the same results :D

No, none of the 2C-Ts I've tested go green, and 2C-E does not go green. This seems exclusive to the 2Cs with halogen elements at the 4 like 2C-C, 2C-I, 2C-B, etc.
 
I figured it would probably come up as 2C-B or X. I guess my only other question is, if the police DID confescate the pill, what are the chances they wouldve let him out the next day? He did not see any mention of it on his arrest papers.
