There is no way to open the indole ring under HCl acidic conditions, If you cannot obtain the HCl salt in good yield it s just because its really water soluble. A good way to make it if you can get some sulfuric acid (car's battery). You mix it to sodium chloride to get HCl gaz that you bubble directly into your DMT freebase in Ethanol. It is quite reliable yield 80%. Another way is to take your freebase, mix 80/20 Ethanol/Acetone with Conc HCl dropwise.

I have to agree. I have used both Muriatic & Citric acid to make salt form of 25i-nbome, both with excellent success. Honestly just using distilled white vinegar is much easier and less chance for making a nasty mess.

I believe in the 25i-nbome big n dandy thread theres a quick discussion about converting it. If you chose to use hcl over another - just find your % then go for molar equiv with the 25x even if you use a little bit more (and I mean a LITTLE BIT) - it's not going to be a disaster. The quantities your using are very tiny though unless your processing several grams or more.
