Hey and thanks for reading my post in advance.
I'm new to this forum and looking for advice from other tramadol users.

TL:DR: 100-150mg Tramadol tolerance, still in pain, how much can I take before I hit the seizure threshold?

Long:

I've been on tramadol for 1 year approx for a painful genetic condition called Ehlers Danlos Syndrome.

Right now I've taken 150mg of tramadol (the most I've taken at any time) but not getting any pain relief this time. I know that nothing is broken as I've spent today at home relaxing.
How much tramadol is safe to take without going into the seizure threshold for someone who has a 100-150mg tolerance. I'm unable to get any Oramorph unless I go to the ER which I don't want to do unless I have too.

Talk to your doctor about getting on something else if you're really trying to manage pain.
Taking 500-1000mg of Tramadol isn't fucking practical or healthy for anyone.

I should. She suggested me going on morphine for a while but is that safer for me than Tramadol? From what I've read tramadol is a quick fix for temporary pain measures and why I've been given it for a life long problem is beyond me. I am going to try and see my doctor this week as it's getting stupid. My limbs can go from zero pain to ten in a matter of minutes. This isn't helpful with tramadols long bioabsorbtion (20mins plus when you are in crippling pain is a long time)

Thanks for your help :)

^ I feel for you! Yes, talk to your dr ASAP. You can take more Tram, maybe another 100mg safely. Do you take any ssri's or snri's? Antidepressants.

I've read a little about your condition & understand it's lifelong. As an above poster pointed out tramadol is not practical in your situation. Especially when it's not helping.

Have a chat to your dr about ER morphine or an alternative that will cover your pain when it arks up. As well as an IR med for break through pain.

Best of luck,

Rtp

Thanks for the reply, I used to be on Citalopram for post-natal depression and general anxiety. I've been prescribed low dose (30mg) Amytriptaline for neuropathic pain too and that's pretty helpful stuff.

What is an IR med? I've not heard of them.

You could try Codeine? Codeine gets converted to morphine by the liver, but it would all depend on now you personally metaboliser that. I'd ask your doctor.

It also may be worth sticking with the tramadol and adding another painkiller in combination with that, some doctors would suggest.

I was on codeine for 6 months prior to trams and my doctor told me that tram would be more beneficial.

When I was on combined trammy and morphine it was great but I rarely get access to morphine although I think I should chase it up.

IR = instant release

ER = extended (over a period of time) release

Other things...Tramadol is not a great drug. Safe threshold is 400mg a day, above this the chances of seizure are theoretically increased. To which, its ridiculous BigPharma are getting doctors to hand out Trammies like sweets these days.

30mg amitryptyline is not a low dose. 10mg is a low dose. Again, shit drug.

maybe try 200mg er if your doctor thinks you need tram. 300mg oor above is very dangerous. My cousin who has a tollerance claimed to be able to down 21x 50mg tramadols. But he is 350 pounds and should have died 11 times by now
