2024 US Presidential Election

I'd hate to alienate my US friends but from several decades of observing the world I gathered the following observations.
Most political systems devolve into a two party race... With the right (conservative) and left (progressive) both descending into polar opposites. Conservatives (by their very name) want things to stay the same and progressives call for adaptation and change. The left want to fix what's broken, the right want to preserve what is working. On the surface both perspectives are valid.

But consider who has the most to gain. The right want to stabilise a vastly complicated and patently inequality laden structure.
Those with the left want a more balanced and fairer system.
Surely the vast majority would lean left unless they already possessed money/power?
Not if those on top can convince enough people that they stand to lose something in the rebalanced system (or the transition to it).
To this end conservatives have always discredited, demonised, deceived and distracted.
The progressives appear to perpetually fight fire with fire, making both views equally disagreeable.

What I find astonishing is when a public figure can make an obviously blatant lie AND THEN BELIEVE IT THEMSELVES.
Politicians on both sides seem equally capable of the lie but, looking at the world today, self-deception seems a predominantly conservative trait. (Along with an inability to generate one's own gnoses.... But let's not go there.)
I don't understand blind faith in any humans ability to determine correctness for someone else.
Consequently I tend to disbelieve ANY politician before dissecting their acquired and innate goals.
If their words in any way attempt to create "us" and "them", I stop listening.
If they want to tear something down without starting something better, I stop listening.

To those voting in the coming US elections I plead,
Don't vote on who...vote on what!
Don't automatically believe what they say...look between the lines and between the sides and from THAT perspective decide who is best suited to represent YOUR interests without disadvantaging as many as possible.

I'll stop with a question.

If there is an American Taliban....who would they vote for?

And I already know what your response will be, but for a second imagine left wing extremist actually got in power and made it a violent crime to misgender someone with severe consequences , the morals and values would obviously be different but the way they implement those values would probably suprise you how similar they would be, they claim they are about openness and freedom and self expression, but that’s bullshit cause if you don’t see thing exactly how they do your a racist bigot that should be in jail for dead

both descending into polar opposites
Unfortunately, the US seems to have two major right-wing parties that essentially govern the same on the vast majority of important issues.
The best you'll get is centre-right quarter-measures with a Democrat, or no change at all with a Republican.
The US has a democratic President, but the economy still doesn't work for most people and weed is still illegal federally.

I struggle to find more than a couple things of notable significance that Biden has done differently from Trump.
Maybe I'm just not looking close enough as a non-American, but I invite anyone to name 5 significant things that Biden is doing differently in terms of actual policy and legislation.

Sorry...but I found it hard to extract the intent from Las Vegas Grower's statement.
I cannot determine the polarity of the extremism from "Misgender", but you state left.
"The morals and values would be different"...
to what?
The implementation of those values would be similar.... To what?

I'll get it right eventually

It’s not that hard to understand buddy, who’s morals and values would I be comparing too ? Keep your last post in mind ….

But bottom line the dems are driving this country off a fucking cliff, it’s clear as day to see, just vote to not fly off the cliff, that’s all you gotta do as an American

Ok... I can't resist.
Watch me stick a finger in the fire ant nest.

I have long held an admiration for early American literature (?) but there is one sentence I find overly eloquent.

"We hold these truths to be self evident".

Clearly written before the advent of the GOP.

Don’t forget it was the republicans that fought to free the slaves :/…and don’t barf out some CNN justification of “the great party switch”

nobody - no person, no party - has a monopoly on what it means to be american or what patriotism looks like.

you and i differ on many things but you're still a fellow countryman.
