2017 Trump Presidency Thread

Long time ago, the Republicans wanted to lower the deficit.

I know right? Who are these people? Fiscal conservatism is not on the agenda!

And neither party is taking a hard-line stance on ending the drug war, or legalizing euthanasia and suicide.

Republicans are repealing the health insurance mandate with a tax cut (what kind of logic is that?) for the obscenely rich and anything else backdoor to sabotage the ACA, so in a way, they are doing all three of these things indirectly, just to the poor and drug users... :\

...if I wasn't on my phone I'd take the time...
why start now? :)

my point was more about the fact that a paper which has historically chosen to not endorse candidates or presidents is so disgusted by trump that they felt compelled to speak out.

brushing that off by dismissing the paper as a liberal rag is lazy and a cop out.

I disagree, I'm just going off of what I see everyday on google news feed and what USAtoday articles are about. The gannet company that owns them actually owns the Tennessean which ill read here, which makes a lot of sense bc it's a paper with a liberal editorial bend trying not to turn off conservatives completely. USAtoday has likely never given trump a fair shake. Unfortunately there are thousands of great/ fair reporters that work for these media companies, but everyone of these editorial boards are beholden to the seven giants that own them all, so they must adhere and throw objectivity out the window. To me it's all just disheartening af

Besides, even if it is a "liberal rag", that doesnt make what they said any more or less true.

In a proper debate you discuss what was said not who said it.

likely? you sound like you're making a claim even you are unsure is true. perhaps you could post a couple or three examples of usa today not giving trump a fair shake?

indeed.

Another Trump collaborator bites the dust!

Goodbye Christie! Keep the bunk beds warm for Sessions, McConnell, Trump & Ryan!

Regardless of politics, how anybody could vote for him or support him with the way he talks about people and how idiotic and childish he sounds is beyond me.

It is a mockery of the past 30 years of scripted robot politics. I and many others find hysterically funny.

I voted for a better more prosperous future and this has been the greatest most prosperous year on record. Many ppl will have better jobs next year thanks to the business friendly attitude he instigated.

4% GDP groth and counting...

And ppl want to go on about the amount of soda he drinks...smfh

This is an empty promise.

As much as I support Trump over the presidents I've been old enough to notice (Obama, Bush, Clinton) he hasn't really tackled trade or immigration which is where the good jobs would come from.

Corporate tax breaks = higher executive bonuses from my perspective.

Edit: Full disclosure: I was somewhat center-left until intersectional identity politics came into play, which to me is the most despicable political perspective in the past 50 years or so. All you lefties should focus on jobs, economy, shit like that and maybe you'll get more support than dividing people into micro-identity groups.

I've always hated politicians and considered them scum. Same with media hacks. So I am not upset with Trump shitting on them, I love it.

i laugh at the idea of people thinking trump is not a politician. he's a liar and as - if not more - guilty of cronyism as any of his predecessors.

I think Trump divides people into micro-identity groups, i.e. "Bad Hombres", "Crooked Hillary", demonizing the Democrats, etc.

I just, truly, honestly don't understand how someone can support trump. Unless they're a total asshole I mean.

I mean, forget all the politics, forget everything he believes in or says he believes in or says he'll do.

Can't you just sense that the man is a horrible person? That deep down he is a horrible, arrogant, disgusting pig?

Even if I entirely agreed with him politically I think I'd still hate him as a person.

And unless they have the same qualities as he does, I truly don't understand how someone can support him as a person. Unless like, they just don't know? It seems self evident to me, even without all the evidence I can just sense that he's like that. I dunno, maybe other people can't?

I'm asking an honest question here and I'm honestly not trying to attack or insult anyone in saying this. I just truly don't understand.

I can understand hating Hillary Clinton, I can understand hating all of trumps political enemies. I can understand agreeing with trumps politics.

But I just can't understand liking trump as a human being. He is just, so awful. Its so obvious he's a horrible man. So I don't understand how any right thinking person with any intuition can't see what he is and be repulsed. That's the part I truly don't get.

An obvious answer to the whole thing would be to say all the people who like him really are either blind or themselves horrible people. But I really don't want to believe that.

I can agree with what your saying. I tend to agree with a lot of Republican policies, but like you've said I can't stand Trump. I think it's a matter of a lot of people nowadays are like sheep, they'll follow the wolf to thier doom, even if it is a stupid, arrogant, fool of a wolf.
