2017 Trump Presidency Thread

God the dickwaving over "muh country's better!", "nuh uh, what about these other countries?" gets so tiresome. Someone online (usually an American, like myself) overstates the their country's role or importance in the world, leading to howls of anguish from posters in other countries...

Common message board phenomena

I wouldn't necessarily classify the USA as a "superpower", though...that would seem to imply that other countries have no choice but to deal with us and fall in line with the USA's interests, that it's our way or the highway, when in reality other countries can align themselves with other global or even regional powers...and to a greater degree than they could during the 1990's, IMO
Agreed, country dick waving is annoying af. There are plenty of other prosperous countries around the globe. People should just let America be to do their thing. It concerns me that all of these folks in western countries are so obsessed with out politics.
Right now we need to just worry about America and do as much as we can to pull ourselves out of foreign countries, militarily and otherwise imo. Not be isolationists, but it wouldn't kill us to let Germany take the lead.

I'm not specifically speaking about modern things. Don't take it so literally. There are things we don't even imagine who created it and it belongs to our daily use, like boxes to put milk, liquids. Yes, simple but it wasn't invented by US. like zippers, matches, or even simpler things I'm not going to list here, just use your imagination.

I lived in the US and one thing that amazed me was how unusual it can be for the average Joe to visit other cultures, travel to other countries. Most people I know have done that during college and they are not rich. My point is that it can be quite enriching to learn about other countries and their inventions. People talk about blues or rock and roll (great music for sure) but have you ever thought of who created the instruments of music or studied about the effects of the sound?

Before South or North America were colonized there were a lot of great things that were the bed rock for some of the greatest inventions today. I remember watching the series of Cosmos and becoming in odd with what the 'old' world has left us so that we could go on and invent other things. We couldn't have done that in the dark.

It does not have to be an Apple device that is a great invention btw like iPods, iPads, etc, however, there is a world of things that are being created now and were created in the past so important that it would have been difficult to imagine the world without these other routine but basic things.

Well said.

sure. we're communicating in english.

Ha, this too :)

Some people enjoy playing games, I personally enjoy keeping score and the USA has and is winning bigly.

Germany was up and running before our founding no doubt, they tried to go to war with the entire world and nearly won, twice, that is until we stepped in to dominate and cuckhold the country into the overpriced and overengineered doormats they are today ;)

Germany isn't running a 20 trillion dollar debt. We're going to be China's doormat. Enjoy bankrupting the country with neoconservative politics.

Oh it is, it's a modern form of piracy.

They make "governments" out of people who serve our interests and have them sign away all and any forms of assets in exchange for dollars or the things dollars buy.

America is not the only country attempting to leverage more power, control, and resources out of small countries (i.e. China).

You'd probably realize that if you had a formal education, and didn't let Trump supporters blast propaganda at you across social media platforms 24/7.

You and drops would be perfect for each other. Move to Alabama, vote for Roy Moore, and talk about how regulations are ruining America at the gun range. Your dream can be a reality.

Is Trump the only politician in the modern era to actually follow through with all of their campaign promises? He's following through so much so that CNN had an article about this fact. Even if it's at the detriment of the progressive cause y'all have to admit it's pretty uncanny. The only major fail I can think of is healthcare, but we knew that would be a battle and it looks like the mandate is getting BTFO'd and associations/competition across state lines has been legalized. Can't wait to see how the nafta negotiations turn out. Can't wait to vote MAGA in 2020. It's gonna be hilarious if they run Bernie against him, and the economy is at 4% growth with them campaigning on socialism/higher taxes. Politics are so interesting in current year!

I just want to give her all my money, have babies and have her run my life, been in love with her for quite some time......

Yeah, you're right. African-American contribution to music has been literally game changing.

Hands down black music is one of the greatest American contributions IMO

I was just trying to make a point so that you can see things with a wider perspective.

Most appreciated, always enjoy your contributions, I've had this site change my perspective and opinion on many things, BL and it's contributors are an invaluable asset.

Yeah, like the British ARM microprocessors that run virtually all of them lol

Yes, but it it was Ted Hoff and Intel that gave us the microprocessor in the first place.

That's if we decide to pay China back, which is looking more and more not likely, I'm in no position to bankrupt any country nor am I a neocon so I'm presently enjoying neither.

Correct but atm and foreseeable future we're winning bigly and the sun is still shinning brightest on us, and God most obviously favors us over soulless commies.

I don't need whatever you may consider a formal education to understand geopolitics and strategy, I never said there wasn't competition, I also do not take part in any social media to have any influence or bearing on my opinions, nor have 24 hours in a day to sit around and be brainwashed.

Can you say the same?

All?

  • He promised to balance the budget, but the current tax plan runs huge deficits.
  • He promised to eliminate the federal debt in eight years, but he isn't anywhere close to that.
  • He promised to enact term limits for congress, but there's no action on that front.
  • He promised to appoint a special prosecutor to investigate Hillary Clinton, but that hasn't happened.
  • He said Mexico would pay for the wall, but so far that hasn't happened.
  • He said the wall would be cheap, but the current plans are much more expensive than he's claimed.
  • He says he's not going to cut social security, medicare or medicaid, and that hasn't happened yet, but Republicans are talking about how they'll need to do that because of the huge deficit the Republican tax plan is going to create.
  • He was going to immediately add $20 billion to fund school choice. This has not happened.
  • He said he'd make a safe zone for Syrian refugees. No movement on this front.
  • He was going to bring back waterboarding and worse tortures. He has not.
  • He wanted to change the vaccine schedule for children. No action here either.
  • He wanted to allow health insurance companies to sell across state lines. This hasn't happened either. (Insurance companies have always been able to sell across state lines, btw, but the Republicans want them to only have to obey the state regulations of the state they are based in.)
  • He wanted to allow individuals to deduct the cost of health insurance from taxes. This is not part of the tax plan going through congress.
  • He said he'd require price transparency from health care providers. Nothing has happened here.
  • He was going to ban all Muslims from entering the US. He hasn't.
  • He said he'd declare China a currency manipulator. He has not.
  • He said he wouldn't take vacations.

There's more, but I think I've made my point.

One question - who is repeating these claims? I've seen it come up in several political discussions within the last week. Fox news talking point?

Did you run track in high school? Because you're good at leaping over hurdles and jumping through hoops 8(

You must be in good shape from those mental gymnastics.

That's if we decide to pay China back, which is looking more and more not likely

The #1 thing wrong with the Sanders supporters AND Trump...

They think they don't have to pay their bills. :|

We will pay back China and it will be in our best interest to do so. It's immature, immoral, and insane to think we're just going to skate by without paying down the national debt.

Not saying he's upheld them all since, but he's doing a pretty damn good job of getting shit done. Honeslty it's amazing, by anyone's standards.
Ali CNN isn't strictly fake news, it is just very biased and the fact that they reported on the fact that he has completed many of his campaign promises is very out of place for them imo

that's exactly what you said:
escher's post soundly demonstrates that the answer is no.

alasdair

If you're being honest with yourself you would be able to grasp what I was saying. He is certainly running down the list of all of his promises, but it one hell of a list to rattle off. He is addressing it like no other president. A good example was naming Jerusalem the capitals of Israel. Ever since they passed the law recognizing them every president said they would uphold the legislation, but trump was the only one to do it. Love him or hate him he getting shit done, bigly.

What does running track have to do with mental gymnastics?

Your formal education has robbed you of any sense of humor because that attempt at insult comedy sucks and makes no sense.

As far as the debt china owns, imo we'll most likely be at war with each other before that debt is paid back.

i'd say that his #1 campaign promise was repeal and replacement of obamacare. he's not done that. apparently it was going to be very easy, he was he only person who knew how to do it. well, if it was so simple, why's he not done it?

who knew healthcare could be so complex? everybody but you mr. president...
