2017 Trump Presidency Thread

Very true, 10 years ago we had a declining GDP, rising unemployment and at the same time record high dow and s&p........which all points to an artificially produced bubble guaranteeing a recession at best.

That bubble was based on the subprime colossus, as war didn't enrich the entire country the way the tech bubble had in the 90's.

With our GOAT President it's the opposite, record high drop in unemployment (one week was at a 40+ year low), rising GDP 8o which will equate to more lending and more building = more jobs and MAGA hard. Its absolute proof that MAGA is possible and happening at break neck speed.

So long as he does not start an unnecessary war I would say we're good for at least the next 5 years.

If I were a betting man I would say that the overall market is overvalued but 20%, but again so long as war doesn't break out that could too disappear in the next 5 years.

Meh, GDP growth is right around its 70 years average and many quarters under Obama were just as, if not more robust. Ill concede unemployment has continued to drop under Trump but has been steadily trending to near full employment (~4% ) for about 5 years. I just dont see what actual policy, up until the tax plan, rather than psychology under Trump has lead to anything you can substantially say has been positive economically.

Well......well.....what do we have here??

http://money.cnn.com/2017/12/01/media/abc-news-flynn-correction/index.html

If Trump asked Flynn to contact the Russians AFTER he won the election then no laws couldve possibly been broken, because the election was decided already

Yeah he is literally getting hassled now bc he was attempting to prevent WW3 with the Russians, after the DNC/media ran with the Russia conspiracy theory everyday for 8 months. I really want them to get Comie for lying during his testimony and obama/Susan rice for using the fake pee pee dossier to issue fisa warrants/unmasking folks illegally. At the end of the day Flynn worked for obama for like 350 days and worked for trump for like 30.

What part of Wooderson's post isnt true though?? The stock market is unbelievable, and unemployment at historic lows.

My personal stocks are through the roof. I'm loving every second of it :)

My personal stocks aren't going to be touched for a decade or two. Which mean's it gets to experience the whole experiment of the Republicans stealing from the middle class (the true engine of the economy) to give tax cuts to the rich.

I dont understand the American system. Do the Democrats have any sway or ability to block anything?

They do. Of course they do. A lot of them just get lazy and don't vote.

A lot more, especially in the states/counties where it counts, get discriminated against or intimidated at the polls.

Others are too poor to skip going to work that day to go vote, and don't have mail-voting options like my state does.

Finally, because voting isn't compulsory, all the people who would have voted against the establishment parties (namely the Republican one) don't vote.

Speaking from experience even if you're single with no dependents getting paid min wage or close to it, you receive all the money taken from your paychecks back at the end of the year.

So you still pay taxes...you just get them back...

You can say you never touched the museum piece, but your finger prints are all over it, dude.

Yeah, i can't see trump getting out of this one.

You all think you can predict the future...did any of us think Trump would win? Did any of the real media?

Prepare to get disappointed, again, in another 4 years guys.

It is hard to understand why people vote against their self interests.

It's actually quite easy to understand. People fear a lot of things, and they think the government can keep them safe. From each other (border wall and immigration policies), from drugs (the war on drugs), from international governments and totalitarian dictators (Russia, NK), and for all of these, they give up civil rights and liberties, and money.

We held onto a few civil rights along the way, but we're all now totally fucking broke.

TL;DR the more money people making from their stocks, the more goods they start buying, which means the country has to produce more goods = higher GDP

That's insane. A lot of people pay down bills, or pay for services like their kid's school, or paying down their mortgage, and not necessarily "buying goods". Or better yet, they reinvest into the stock market. :|

This whole pretty "We trickle down money from the rich to you! This goes there, it goes here, it's perfect!" nightmare you guys are trying to push on us is stupid. It's like you can't think out ANY OTHER PHILOSOPHICAL POSSIBILITIES to any one event.

Regarding Frescos statement, CH. Its not that they are necessarily pulling the profits out of stocks and using the cash to purchase new goods and services with them as Fresco stated. There surely is some of that, but more generally when the markets are doing well, corporations are doing well and people feel more confident in their job stability therefore are more likely to make purchases than hold onto their money. It really is a psychological thing but a true phenemona to many.

...which is not what he said.

He literally implied people use their dividends or stock sales profits to buy more goods. Presumably goods made in America...which is probably not what most Americans are buying... :|

Funny enough, I could care less who calls out a Jew even if preceded by comments related to cleanliness. I might have a strange way of looking at things but I can only see being a Jew as a badge of honor. Jews are very active in the medical, legal, and entertainment industries so ((( federal judge))) is new to me....thank you for showing me this.

In the interest of facilitating a better CEP we will discourage calling Jews dirty should they not be covered in mud or generally unkempt. Please report any and all perceived "racist slurs" to the staff....it seems like everything is racist these days so I look forward to learning more.

Thank you

I was gonna take the time to go through all the "accomplishments" in that big troll-post up there, then got to the travel ban. It says it's being held up by "(((federal judge)))".

MorningGlorySeed, this is for you, since you missed it. Those three parentheses are used by online Nazis to indicate a "dirty Jew" (as if people here didn't know that). I just thought you might want to know when your members are reposting from hate sites. I mean, besides just looking at URLs like "fuhrerious 88 dot wordpress". I know you hate that Hitler-worship bullshit.

I think that shit violates y'all's BLUA#4 but I guess it should be up to the Jewish fellow on staff.

When buisnesses are given tax breaks it is wrongly asaumed that any cut in expenses or taxes equals increase in profits and that increase in profit eventually trickles down to the workers.

This in turn will accelerate the economy as people have more money to spend.

Alas this is really not the case, I dont know how the minimum award wages are worked out in other countries but Fair work has a kegal minimum wage per industry.

Its legally enforcable and set way below what is teasonably expected anyway so wage rises are only enforcable if your pay grade is the minimum and also at the legal minimum.

CPI increases were a given until about 10 years ago. Now they are hardly ever passed on in areas without an EBA or no union strength.

A lot of companies are floated on the stock market and it doesnt matter how much profit is nade to the workers, we never see any of it as its all going to shareholders.

I havent had a pay rise in 3 years despite record stock levels.

The pharmacy guild has not reported wage increases for 5 years and claim pharmacies are going broke despite strong share prices. The unions are decimated and no longer represent the workers who get screwed over.

What needs to happen is wage increases.

It takes too long to trickle down.

I would have hoped govt would increase legal minimum wages at the same time as buisness tax cuts so it flows in the right direction.

It is hard to understand why people vote against their self interests. They may think something like "It's for the greater good of the country" or some such magical thinking. I heard most of the country nowadays couldn't tell you what the term lengths are for congressmen and senators. Could be propaganda but rings true. There is no doubt there is a preference to keep the populus dumbed down.

I had heard when Flynn flips on Kushner, daddy will pardon him. Mueller apparently already anticipates this and has a strategy to get some evidence elsewhere. If the man-child fires Mueller, I think that's pretty much getting toward the end game. I think impeachment could be on the table then.

Interesting post. It might be presumptuous to know what another person's self interests are. It is very subjective to assume the Democratic party has the best policy regarding another person's self interests.

Yes, but you're only telling half the story there. Lots of people will cash in stocks they made a profit on to buy a new car, to renovate their house, ....etc. Not everyone reinvests all their money back into stocks.

Also not just goods but services fall under GDP

What the fuck?

Seriously?

:\

not at all.

he's awful. where did pence grow up, do you know?
i assume pence's background is in fundamentalist christianity - is that right?

He probably grew up in Indiana. Yes he had a background in fundamentalist christianity but converted to catholicism as catholicism moved more in line with his ideology. No offence catholics. My mother's side was catholic, my wife is catholic by birth and I've had tons of catholic friends. Where I worked most of life in culturally different north florida, you were almost grouped and discriminated against like any other minority.

Religion is no excuse for being a hateful bigot.
It's curious though, how these people end up being so fucked up.

I certainly don't blame religion, but it does seem to play a role in certain people's hate and lack of empathy.
To me that's what it really comes down to with these extreme right wing individuals - a pathological lack of empathy.
Some of them are obvious sociopaths, or even psychopaths.

If religion were to blame, the church wouldn't do any good socially-minded things like charity.
No, I blame the individuals who exploit religion as a convenient dogma of judgement to lean back upon.

No, this isnt right. He was raised Catholic, then became born again, and now doesnt know what the fuck he is besides Christian. Wikipedia says he claims to be an evangelical, born again Catholic lol. He was born in Indiana though (had to check that).
