2017 Trump Presidency Thread

you joke about this but the founding fathers of the u.s.a. would roll in their graves

They were against political parties. They would've been rolling a long long time ago. These are the some of the criticisms that Trump supporters don't take seriously. There were already some very serious problems in US leadership that many people were dismissing before Trump. Now all of a sudden people are up in arms about irrelevant shit because Trump is in power. It's transparent and hypocritical. His critics will have to do a lot better if they want to be taken seriously.

Did you live under a rock during the Obama administration? Republicans thought he was a Muslim foreigner with a fake birth certificate FFS. This country is doomed because we can't even agree on what the problems are anymore rather yet how to solve them.

The G20 pin and it's symbolism are stupid!
Trump represents America and you may not like him but you will respect him.

For real. I never even heeded his existence till a year ago. The only reason he's famous is because Americans are hooked on television, and he's a reality tv star.

The fact that people have somehow found reality tv even watchable irks me to no end.

So you voted for him cause he can take purty pictures? How sweet!
Respect is earned

Only reason I knew of him was cause he was constantly being sued and bankrupting multi million $ companies. Oh and all the miss teen America controversies. Watched his show once, found him repulsive

Someone may have a personality that you find unappealing or abrasive yet still have positive intentions and be a good person.

While someone else may appear as the most trustworthy and charming motherfucker you've ever met yet be a psychopath and covertly fucking you in the ass.

it's pretty sad that people still support this criminal sack of totalitarian garbage.

the new world order is here, and i hate to break it to you, but nobody is putting america first.
least of all the scumlord-in-chief.

time to take out the trash, america.

this video is a pretty thorough overview of what is happening in this administration.

it's not pretty, it's not funny, and frankly i think it's disturbing that some people cheer on the people that are fucking them over. bloody foolish.

The surprise here is probably because Trump was nice, and that is a bit shocking IMO. So when someone like him shows kindness, it becomes news. If it was anyone else this would be just spontaneous and normal.

Trump acted with grace and dignity. (This is not a joke.)

Trump is actually a decent person. If you knew about all the benevolent things he did before he got into politics you would all view him differently. I too was swayed by the media smear and bias during the primaries, but I was intelligent enough to extricate myself from all that bullshit and then view the situation objectively. Seems like most of you have yet been unable to do that, but time will prove his competence. I predict many here will be fans of his in 4-8 years.

For the Trump haters: what do you believe his motives were for running for President?

Exactly!! The bar is so low for him.
Look, Trump didn't leave his wife far behind by the car or coming off the plane! Look Trump didn't shove any world leaders this time!

second time of asking dw - how do you define a leader?

There are many different ways to describe a leader, and those traits and characteristics can sometimes solely depend upon the political situation in which a head of state finds themselves.
Unfortunately many of the traits that we associate with leadership are also base characteristics of a successful psychopath. Most people have no idea that this is a reality and often fall under the charm of a spellbinding psychopath (see the book Political Ponerology for a detailed explanation).

What we need at the moment it someone that genuinely cares about the United States, and humanity at large. People are sick of ex-lawyer career politicians who say all the nice, warm, fuzzy things that make us feel good on the inside while simultaneously selling us out to globalists and international corporate interests. Examples: Patriot Act, NSA spying, TPP, National Defense Authorization Act, just to name a few. IF Trump starts signing legislation along these lines then I will have a right to criticize him. But until then, all you critics simply come across as ignorant, butthurt hypocrites.

fame and profit.
politically i think his shady advisors and the nationalist creeps he's surrounded himself with are running the show. i don't think trump comes close to being capable of being the President.
far too unstable and lacking intelligence and education.

i don't think he's "benevolent", i think he's malignant.
he's a con-artist, a mob-connected money-launderer, a b-grade entrepreneur and a trash-culture "celebrity". whether or not you're "intelligent enough to extricate myself from all that bullshit" is beside the point - he's a man with a very bad reputation for being a scumbag.

he earned this reputation by being a scumbag. it's not hype.
i'm very much removed from the US mainstream media, so i can say this with confidence.

you know the trump family wealth is from prostitution? the guy's a pimp, from a family of pimps.

i reckon things are looking pretty bad for trump right now.
i would be pretty confident he'd be facing charges in the next couple of weeks - but i wonder if someone has an opinion on whether or not anyone has the authority to lay charges against a US President?

wow. :\

See this doesn't hold up to scrutiny. The dude was already massively famous, rich and politically connected. Running for President is counterproductive to getting disgustingly rich. His business dealings are now under the miscroscope, with one wrong move costing him his job and even potentially landing him in jail. He had haters in the past, but generally had an overall positive reputation (I was previously ambivalent towards him but respected his business acumen). Now his reputation has been absolutely decimated (bad for business). Not to mention the extreme danger he now faces from assassination attempts (along with putting his family in danger). The extra fame is not worth that risk and he will probably take a hit financially (unless he starts pulling a Hillary Clinton and engaging in pay for play).

hahahah.... care to make a wager? Remember when was going to be impeached? What, 6-7 months ago? It is comments like these that prove your ignorance. Serious question: what crime did he commit? And do you have any evidence?

you don't think you have the "right" to criticise a political leader?
Not for stupid reasons. Let's hear more about how he likes his steaks well-done and how he's not allowed to use social media. You know, important stuff.

spacejunk In practice it's very difficult to sue a sitting President for things he did prior to assuming office and that fall short of "impeachment for and conviction of treason, bribery or other high crimes and misdemeanors". (Section 4, Article 2 of the United States Constitution).

With a sexual predator, con artist, liar, and greedy dirtbag like Trump, you would think it should be easy. However, the standard practice has been to make it very difficult for individuals or groups (class action) to sue a sitting President.
Historically, the reason is that Presidents would be vulnerable to addressing frivolous lawsuits or legal actions if a person or entity disagrees with an executive order or decision or a military action ordered by the President as Commander in Chief. This could be a politically motivated lawsuit or a wrongful death lawsuit by grieving family members of a civilian (like that student in North Korea who was in a coma and died) or a member of the military. It also protects them from being subject to scrutiny or trial by international bodies such as The Hague.

That being said, Presidents are generally expected to adhere to the Constitution, including the emoluments clause, and not be a disgusting excuse for a human being prior to and after assuming office.
