2017 Trump Presidency Thread

Status
Not open for further replies.
I heard on NPR that his secret service has been essentially shutting down the airport every time he flies in to that town, and local businesses are losing serious amounts of money because during their whole tourism season, the main road is shut down every weekend with his coming and going. The hypocrisy is indeed brazen.

^ he's probably banging some slut from palm beach.

call me crazy, but if i had just become president i would be working weekends and staying in town to mingle with the DC crowd

This is not the thread to debate your views. In fact i am sick of interaction with you full stop. You say the same things in every thread you post in. We get it. You want to be around white people.

Dude. Someone posted the cartoon. Another person said it was complete bullshit. I said it wasn't. It isn't. I have proof.

Also, the mods have told you, twice- there is a report function.

I am also under no obligation to make my posts enjoyable to you. Don't read them, if that's what you expect and desire.

I am also pretty sure you continue to interact with me, and whine and complain, adding little if any substance to an argument. I only remember interacting with you when you directly name me, or quote me, or whatever, regarding me. Your move...

Such persuasive proof you posted! Certainly changed my mind!

At best you have some false generalization bullshit. I can do that too! Brock Turner is a rapist, therefore all white men are rapists, we better ban them all before they rape all our white women.

See how that works?

You didn't pay attention the time I listed sources for someone who copy/pasted a list of "white inventions". Granted, I didn't complete it, but it was at least 99% accurate to his words, as I made my way down the list, completing many of them before I lost interest and the thread got closed. You want me to post statistics that support what I said? How about you provide a source for proof that the image was wrong in the first place, because that's what I was responding to- your complete dismissal of it. I already did give, mind you, that the image was probably not helpful- but at the same time, it does get it out there, and if people want to look, all they have to do is look. But again, I agree, it's sensitive; Generalizing like this, especially in the tone of the cartoon, I wouldn't be one to do it, and I think it can be harmful/counter-productive. But I would bet money right now that given an actual investigation, you would find that certain minority groups commit more crime including violent crime and sexual assault (including interracial), and that some of these do have a property of being groups (more than one man) committing the crimes - where this property is at least less known in "home" populations. There are complicated dynamics involved. I don't fully understand. But they won't just get shouted down. Unless they go away, then they'll go away.

The burden of proof lies with the one making the claims. These are the basics of the basics. Refusal or inability to provide proof to support your claims is a tacit admission that they can't be supported.

iow, its your responsibility to back up your shit, nobody else has any kind of responsibility to prove your bs wrong. If you can't or won't support it then by default its disproven.

so, how are the polls looking?

ouch.

also, i may as well add this -

Trump is acting like a cornered animal on Twitter this morning: What about Clinton and the Russians?

sure is an "unorthodox" way for a POTUS to conduct his affairs.

more on the FBI investigation just confirmed;

James Comey confirms FBI is investigating possible Russia-Trump links, dismisses wiretapping claims

FBI director James Comey has confirmed the bureau is investigating possible links and coordination between Russia and associates of President Donald Trump.

Key points:

- James Comey's testimony before Congress is the first time he has publicly commented on suspicions of Russian links to Trump campaign
- The FBI director and other officials also denied any wiretap on Trump Tower
- NSA director Michael Rogers labelled Trump administration's claims of British complicity in alleged surveillance of his campaign as "nonsense"
- It was the first public confirmation of an investigation that began in the middle of last year, and came during Mr Comey's opening statement in a congressional hearing examining possible Russian interference in last year's US election campaign.

Mr Comey acknowledged the FBI did not ordinarily discuss ongoing investigations, but said he had been authorised to do so given the extreme public interest in this case.

"This work is very complex, and there is no way for me to give you a timetable for when it will be done," Mr Comey told the House Intelligence Committee (HIC).

The hearing, providing the most extensive public accounting of a matter that has dogged the Trump administration for its first two months, quickly broke along partisan lines.

Democrats pressed for details on the status of the FBI's investigation, while Republicans repeatedly focused on news coverage and possible improper disclosures of classified information developed through surveillance.

Under questioning from the committee's top Democrat, Adam Schiff, the FBI director also publicly contradicted a series of tweets from Mr Trump that the Obama administration had ordered a wiretap on his phones at Trump Tower in New York during the election campaign.

"I have no information that supports those tweets, and we have looked carefully inside the FBI," Mr Comey said.
"The Department of Justice has asked me to share with you that the answer is the same for the Department of Justice and all its components: the department has no information that supports those tweets."

Mr Comey was the latest government official to reject Mr Trump's claims, made without any evidence, that Barack Obama ordered a wiretap.

Devin Nunes, a California Republican and chairman of the HIC, also rejected it earlier in the hearing.

"Let me be clear: we know there was not a wiretap on Trump Tower. However, it's still possible that other surveillance activities were used against President Trump and his associates," Mr Nunes said in his opening statement.

But Mr Nunes said it was possible other surveillance was used against Mr Trump.

Mr Nunes said "numerous" current and former US officials had leaked potentially classified information, and that his committee intended to identify them to bring them to justice.

In a further blow to the President's wiretapping claims, NSA director Michael Rogers, speaking at the same hearing, agreed the Trump administration's claims of British complicity in the alleged surveillance of his campaign were "nonsense" and would amount to violations of US law.

Just hours before Mr Rogers and Mr Comey made those statements before Congress, Mr Trump accused the Democrats of making up allegations about Russian interference, and said Congress and the FBI should be going after media leaks instead.
Mr Comey told the hearing leaks of classified information constituted serious crimes that must be investigated and prosecuted.

The HIC said earlier on Sunday that documents the Justice Department and FBI delivered late last week offered no evidence the Obama administration had wiretapped Trump Tower.

But the panel's ranking Democrat said the material offered circumstantial evidence American citizens colluded with Russians in Moscow's efforts to interfere in the presidential election.

"There was circumstantial evidence of collusion. There is direct evidence, I think, of deception," Mr Schiff said on NBC's Meet the Press.

''There's certainly enough for us to conduct an investigation."

The Senate Intelligence Committee has scheduled a similar hearing for later in the month.

If this all comes crashing down on trump and we get pence....will you all be happy about that?

I think it would be better overall despite thinks getting worse on the social issues front

Plus nobody deserves humiliation at the highest level more than trump

yes, i think the whole administration is compromised and devoid of integrity.

one of my biggest concerns is trump's attitude towards US military aggression - in light of his very fragile (but enormous) ego - so yes, i would like to see him go, and soon.

so...

i'm just going to leave this here... :)

FBI: Evidence Shows Voters In 31 States Conspired Against Clinton

They did so by voting against HRC.

So far, no evidence of russian/trump conspiracy to hack voting machines and steal an election but of course the investigation is on going.

The "deep state" is angry and the message to anyone who plans or is planning on a swamp drain is...back off.

“As you know our practice is not to confirm the existence of an ongoing investigation,” he said. “But in usual circumstances where it is in the public interest, it may be appropriate to do so.”

A palpable ripple of anticipation went through the hearing room as Comey continued: “This is one of those circumstances.”
But he declined to provide more details, citing the ongoing nature of the investigation.

“I can promise you we will follow the facts wherever they lead,” Comey vowed.

The FBI investigation will include an assessment of whether any crimes were committed, Comey said. It began in late July, he said.

House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes (R-Calif.), who was a member of the executive committee of Trump’s transition team, has flatly denied any evidence of collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia.

The committee’s ranking member, Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.), has said that it is too early in the investigation to rule out the possibility, arguing that there is “circumstantial” evidence of such ties.

Comey confirmed on Monday that the bureau and the DOJ have briefed the Intelligence Committee in a classified setting on details of the investigation. He called the step "unprecedented."

It is the bureau’s policy never to discuss an ongoing investigation — but Democrats say the FBI flagrantly ignored that policy last year with Comey’s disclosures regarding the Clinton investigation.

The director has been under fierce pressure to disclose the existence of the Trump probe — pressure he has up until now resisted. After a meeting with House members behind closed doors earlier in the year, he was described by Democratic attendees as “unflinching” and “defiant.”

The FBI investigation now threatens to create a rift with the White House.

How did US rank in the UN World Happiness report released today?

It wasn't in the fifth place we finns ended up taking it.

Looking forward for the next ranking to see how Trump's presidency has affected your placement and while waiting it I am using his twitter account as a source for all the hilarious crap to feel more happy.

Tathra, last time I provided proof, sourcing for about an hour at least the claims made by another (white inventions), it was simply ignored, as would this be. I may get around to it later, but forgive me if I'm not very motivated. You require proof on some of the most obvious stuff.

It would actually be difficult to clearly source it. It isn't as if the news media likes to say "black mobs attacks white people"- it's inflammatory. You have to scour for identifiers, and often do a little bit of independent investigatio (often they are just "youth", or "teens" in things like this). Why should I waste my time, if you won't even acknowledge it? I mean, I guess I may, anyway. For others, to see I'm right. But right now, I'm eating Chipotle.

I guess I also don't understand how you think you're in the right to just be able to call bullocks, without anything substantiating your claim that it is bullocks. Wouldn't your side fair better if you said why it is? If you made a connection, perhaps, with where people might source things, to anchor it, especially if they may in fact be backed up by real life incidences, like the men who surrounded the women at the New Years celebrations? Or the Rotherham Pakistani guys that passed the little white girls around? I have said that I agree that certain facts may be manipulated to sensationalize things and spark generalizations, which may be harmful, but if you just deny something exists, and that there are real problems around this, well, people may wonder why you're lying-- If they find any information that supports the claims, which they will, if they are honest at all.

If you know how it is bullocks, and can explain why, wouldn't it be better for all of us?

I guess, here is this for a start: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rotherham_child_sexual_exploitation_scandal

Can you find an image- even, of multiple white males, who are accused of raping a Muslim Middle Eastern girl or other minority group-individual?

So far, I'd say I have the lead. I can see this- Pakistani men who used white girls. I imagine this is what the cartoon was referring to, in part?

Favorite quote from tonight's rally
"You have a lot of crazy and archaic laws folks....just sayin" lmfao

I really would love to listen to him speak his mind after a few shots of Jameson.

Anyone think Trump ever used drugs?

His brother died from alcohol abuse, and that he says never drank.

I find it truly amazing that he managed to keep his nose clean being the man he was in the time and place in history.
I don't doubt for a second that he has had pharmaceutical help from time to time.
This is purely speculating but I've watched some recent interviews where his pupils seemed rather big for all the lighting TV requires, I remember all the cocaine use speculation while he was campaigning (which at 70 is laughable) but I wonder if he is taking amphetamine. I also wonder if doctors would prescribe such a medicine at the age he is.

He has very high energy and I don't want to take anything away from him if it is natural, it just seems very high for someone his age.

A handful of people comitting atrocities does not make their entire culture evil. Like i already said, what 23, at best all you have is a faulty generalization, and of course that's the entirety of your "proof". Since your conclusion was drawn from invalid reasoning, your conclusion is invalid as well.

Its too easy to say there's a racial reason for criminality. What is more difficult is acknowledging that socio-economic status is much more firmly correlated to crime rates than race or culture. It follows that 'equality before the law' and improved education and lessened wealth disparity are ideals worth pursuing if we really want to address the cause of crime. It will require some restructuring of society, something many would see as too difficult.

I dislike the role women play in Islam and most religions. They are usually undervalued and discriminated against. Religions are manmade bullshit. Again, education in western modern cultural mores is a better solution to such shortcomings than banning immigrants from certain countries. That does not represent a solution; it is merely a reaction.
