2017 Trump Presidency Thread

Makes sence to have tougher security on countries known for Islamic extremism nd war/terrorism.
it makes sense if, like trump, all you care about is simplistic analysis.

read: Leaked DHS Report Undermines Trump’s Argument for Travel Ban

the u.s. department of homeland security pointed out that, in the last six years, foreign-born u.s.-based terrorists have come from 26 counties, most of which are not included in the ban. it also concluded that "citizenship in one of the seven muslim-majority countries included in president trump’s travel ban is an 'unlikely indicator' of terrorism ties".

i think it's a classic case of being seen to be doing something not actually doing something.

i agree with you that there is little substance to his actions and he is just playing on people's fears. i totally agree that "It's got absolutely nothing to do with 'security' and everything to do with racist dog-whistling propaganda."

You see people concerned with immigration as scared and ignorant but maybe they are the ones with foresight to see what could happen if things carry on the same way.
I think I'd be much happier if UK had tough immigration laws like where you live sj.
It's probably because you live in Australia that has tough policies that you don't see it from the perspective of someone like me living in the UK in a muslim area.
You see me as ignorant I see you as naieve.

Alasdair that's what I'm saying he knows what people think of immigration and terrorism and is playing on it.
Like the whole build a fuckin wall thing. Lol
Personally I think he doesn't give a shit and has his eyes on other things.

^I'm curious What 23, do you believe in abortion and planned parenting?
.

"Believe in"? Yes. It exists (haha)...

I don't have my mind made up on it. I think it's disgusting. I think it shouldn't happen. I don't think people should have sex unless they're married or in a committed relationship, and able to deal with the consequences... Even have them in mind in the act itself, and be open to it. I also consider condoms to be "doing it wrong". I prefer the method of planning according to fertility.

Of course, many will read my words here, and immediately have conclusions about them that aren't exactly right.

Abortion and all of the other birth control methods other than natural planning I consider laziness, and not doing it right. Almost like trying to have sex with a limp dick.

This is really tough to answer. I've paid for an abortion, use condoms, etc. But I don't think they are ideal. Ideally I wouldn't be impatient. My views are shaped by my mistakes.

People really can't demand abortions, as long as nobody was willing to perform them. If everyone was in the right, nobody would. I understand the battle from both sides, but I do know what is "right".

I also understand humans learn by mistakes. Abortions have actually been going down. Perhaps as a society we were becoming more responsible? I'd prefer people did come to light on their own, though, so this is an argument against making the thing illegal. I think a woman should be able to freely enter a contract with anyone that is willing to with her. This is libertarian I think. Neither should be punished for it. Harm reduction should be priority.

They should be free to do it, but, we should continue trying to get the number of abortions down to zero, to increase our self-control, and agency.

I see those things as very ugly things that are there because we do ugly things. But I'm not a zealot.

I live in an area with lots of muslims. Closest mosque is a block away. Closest supermarket is halal.
So what?

I think humans should be as free as possible to travel around the world - whether that is my sister in the USA, my friends in Iran, Korea, Chile, etc etc etc.
Politicians denying humans the right to move around the planet are just oppressive bureaucrats.

Do you ever travel? Or do you live in insular fear of people you make no effort to relate to?

I only ask because people with views such as yours tend to be against abortion (as you so expressed) yet disturbed by the concept of non-whites populating their country; my point is, if abortion and family planning were more universal and permitted, minorities wouldn't be out-birthing the rest of us so rapidly. The fact of the matter is, your opinion on race, and your opinion on abortion/birth control are completely dissonant, and cannot coexist. If you want the populations to even out again, then you'll have to encourage them to have more abortions and to use condoms.

Don't need to travel to meet people of diferent nationalities where I live, unless you want to meet white people.
Trust me though Im not scared or living in fear.
If it makes you feel better to call me racist then go ahead but if I had a choice I would rather my country be predominantly white.

Blacks have the most abortions in the U.S. The female who I got pregnant was "black", which made paying for it easier for me (I wanted it to happen/I didn't want the outcome, or difficulty, and it being mixed-race would have likely made it more difficult/complicated).

Not a lot of people with my views (often conservatives, right?) are honest about their in-group preference/identity either.

This isn't to say I want them to kill themselves. But I'm glad Blacks aren't more than 13℅ of the population here.

I am not trying to say my actions (fucking a girl I have no interest in making life with) are what I believe to be a "moral" example. Monstrous actually. But they don't exactly reflect my views.

My views aren't really dissonant. I think it's good for the human to eat but if it is another person's family or mine (or me vs another man) and only so much food, I may be forced to cut off the other family, or group, depending on what else there is to process. But there are many reasons why we might choose one thing for our group, but not award the same to another. It's natural.

I would rather encourage good behavior and reality than covers and "covers" for mistakes. I'd rather not do the mistake to start.

Many edits later: Just to be clear, also, ultimately the reason I would be against abortion would not be simply because I want more more more people. It is that I want to do things right.

That's not the point i was trying to make (or what i was hoping to establish)
Your racism isn't really disputed is it?

What i'm curious about is if you're complacent about countries issuing "travel bans" because it would affect your life.
If you never travel - and none of your friends or family do either - then perhaps you're just not capable of relating to people that do?

That is what i mean by insular.

Call a spade a spade Soso, that's the best bet. Wanting a predominantly white country is racist, no matter how you spin it. If you wish to exclude people based on race, don't be offended when people describe that view as racist.

what23 said:

Yeah, why does that make you glad?

You'll probably trot out crime statistic and cranial size again, but remember that the former is more correlated to socioeconomic status than race, and the latter is part of disputed/debunked/unscientific science.

there's a great article in the current rolling stone about how trump's actions are out of step with the wishes of both people who didn't vote for him and people who did vote for him.

How Trump's Agenda Clashes With What Americans Want

From fighting climate change to funding Planned Parenthood, the public has never been so out of step with a president

The election of Donald Trump has created a misperception that America has lurched far to the right. But as a nation – and on a slate of issues – America is more progressive than ever. Take some glaring examples: Trump, whose election was funded by more than $30 million from the NRA, has vowed to curb background checks for gun purchases, even though more than 90 percent of Americans want background checks applied to all gun sales. In his first week, Trump targeted millions of undocumented Americans for "priority" deportation. But according to a national exit poll, 70 percent of voters want "illegal immigrants" to be granted legal status, with only 25 percent favoring deportation.

With numbers like these, how did Trump ever get elected? His campaign strategy was to stake out multiple, and often conflicting, stances across dozens of issues, tempting voters of all political stripes to convince themselves that the version of Trump they found appealing was the authentic Trump. In fact, Jane C. Timm at NBC News cataloged 141 different Trump positions across 23 major campaign issues – an average of six positions on each – amounting to "the most contradictory and confusing platform in recent history." The strategy worked; Trump won support from a quarter of voters who said they wanted policies more liberal than those of the Obama administration.

As president, Trump has moved to the right. But national polls underscore that an agenda reflective of American priorities would look almost nothing like the policies now being crafted by the White House and Republican leaders in Congress.
(my emphasis)

Let's just say I prefer white voices....

But hey, let's not do what people like or anything. It's not like affinity exists.

Let's keep fighting what people naturally like because that's bad. We have to just want everyone else around, BECAUSE they are different!

Sorry for the sarcasm.

Well your version of right seems very wrong to a great many. I'm happy to tell you my girl is on the pill and we're both pro-abortion and think that opposing it is a moral crime; she is white though, so at least you can't hate on me for diluting the master race :p

Oh yeah and we fuck all the time, and we're not married, even though we've been dating longer than most couples have been married. But we couldn't possibly love each other could we? We couldn't possibly be practicing family planning because we couldn't support a child right now and you and all the other tax payers would have to pay for its upbringing, could we?

If abortions were illegal where i live, i would have a 10 year old child with a really insane girl i dated when i was young and foolish.
Abortion rights are something i personally am incredibly grateful for - as are a lot of women (and other men) At the time i got this girl pregnant, neither of us were capable of caring for or financially supporting a child.

It's another thing i find repugnant about donald trump and his cohorts.

Do you have a goal?

The video was Steven Pinker- a professor of psychology at Harvard. In the video he talks about how Jews (Ashkenazi) are on average more intelligent than other groups. Maybe I should claim my Jewish ancestry so that I can talk about how genes may influence behavior without being called a Nazi, hmm?

Before I respond, what did you take away from what I wrote? Tell me, what do I think is right?

As I understand it, you believe that sex should only occur between a married couple, and they shouldn't use any form of birth control besides planning within the woman's cycle and waiting for that time period to boink if you're tryin not to get pregnant, yes?

You feel that abortion is wrong because people should never be impulsive or have sex outside of your pre-planned, married-people-only schedule, correct? Would I be going too far in assuming that you think sex shouldn't be had for pleasure and only used as a procreation method?

I was mostly just razzing you when saying the bit about how my girl and I are white so no worries, but your anecdote about having knocked up a mixed girl and not wanting to thus have a mixed child makes it out like you wouldn't have aborted it if it was white, thus believing that other races are only good for fucking but not procreating because they would muddle your perfect heritage or something? Or would you aborted it if it was a white girl too?

I'm reading your posts and this is what I took from them. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Edit: Okay I just saw the "Or in a committed relationship"; but I'd still be correct in assuming you oppose any other sex outside that and marriage? What's a committed relationship, how would you define that? You also said 'able to deal with the consequences'; I nor my girl are rich salaried workers and could not afford a child right now, should we give up sex for the next few years till we're boring and old and can't do it anyways?

So to summarize, sex is a sin, even married couples shouldn't do it for fun, if everyone would just stop boinking we wouldn't need birth control, and the human population will be relegated to something similar to their methods of procreation in the book Anthem; certain people will be selected to go to the reproduction place and continue our race, while the rest of us toil in the fields and try to forget the term 'I am'.

I realize you're not that extreme, but I'm trying to get across that your opinions of who should be allowed to screw or not seem really wrong to me, if I am interpreting them correctly. How would you feel if I told you "You're not allowed to have sex unless you're married and make at least 60k/year"?
