2017 Trump Presidency Thread

Liquid, I feel so left out!

What does the DNC and Sander's mutual fuckery have to do with anything? Or Hillary's emails? There's a whole thread for that.

Also, now we know the legacy-yet all powerful-media is also keeping the existence of thousands of conservative celebrities secret. Cause we all know it's so easy to keep a celebrity's mouth shut.

I do wish that you trolled less and offered more meaningful insights that I could address.

It's related to everyone's constant accusations of Trump lying. If we're going to demonize lying then let us be objective and fair about it across the board (the track record of the accusers is vitally important).
I was illustrating some of the most concerning examples of institutionalized lying, which is FAR worse than white-lies thrown out to avoid equally dishonest accusations from the media.

Also, now we know the legacy-yet all powerful-media is also keeping the existence of thousands of conservative celebrities secret. Cause we all know it's so easy to keep a celebrity's mouth shut.
When their millions of dollars are in jeopardy you watch how quickly they STFU.
It's obvious that Hollywood is a Leftist echo chamber and that conservative voices are viciously demonized and ostracized from the community.

Other liars exist. This in no way changes Trump being a liar. I'll be fair and objective in my accusations of him. I don't really care about other liars.

If Hollywood is a leftist echo chamber, than what happened to all the conservatives you just said it's full of? Your conspiratorial chops are failing hard here.

They're pressured and intimidated into silence or suppressing their political views. It is not rocket surgery. Please try to follow along.

Ok, if there's so many of them, how do you keep them silent?

You know, never mind, this is the Trump thread. You'd think him being from Hollywood would give all these conservatives a voice.

@ LMI, I have already said that to you a couple of times already. You can't defend Trump's lies by saying that others do too. The obvious problem is that Trump lies compulsively and no one believes in Trump anymore.

And when he doesn't lie and tries to be himself it's often troublesome. For example, with NK, he promised fury and fire. It actually made things worse as he has been putting himself in this same situation over and over again. So now it's a silly dangerous game that involves and puts in risk other countries.

Even Abe among others feels compelled to have his words on record for in that case in particular 28 times! Everyone knows how Trump's contradicts himself. And changes his minds as reality chocks him just a bit later, as if he could just rewind the tape. This man is totally unfit for Office. Whatever you say won't change this big problem.

And he thinks China will help.

Agenda-driven failure to understand nuance in politics. At the time even if he was trying to get a Trump Tower in Moscow, if it didn't eventuate then that would've been a true statement. Understand the lawyer-speak that politicians use instead of taking everything so literally to fuel your constant cry that Trump is a liar. Also when the media is constantly lying about Trump colluding with Russia to "interfere" with the election, then it makes sense to quell any talk of Russian ties, as any legitimate ties will look bad and be completely misrepresented by a dishonest media. Fighting fire with fire. This is why a lot of his supporters let him get away with bending the truth, as it is often in retaliation for much more nefarious lies. So "I have nothing to do with Russia" is a true statement when framed with answering the accusations of the mainstream media.
this is spin of which the msm you so hate would be proud.

Another example: the media has barely reported on this but the DNC faced a class-action lawsuit for rigging the primaries against Bernie Sanders.
this is the trump presidency thread.

Side note - it is satisfying to see this Russia conspiracy die in the ass...
until mueller releases his findings, the inquiry is very much alive.

WOW - a businessman maybe did business with Russians?
a presidential candidate who claimed "I have nothing to do with Russia" did business in russia. spin it however you want. it's another trump lie.

Insecure? Did the server feel ashamed for what it was doing? :P
for somebody who whines constantly about others' distractions, this is an odd comment.

did you know that words can have two meanings? "insecure (noun): (of a thing) not firm or set; unsafe."

i'd love to see you hold yourself to the same standard to which you hold others.

Are you actually telling me that you are unaware of the Liberal bias in Hollywood?

.... I guess that is what things look like from inside the echo chamber.

Tim Allen did a "James Woods" on the Jimmy Kimmel show and not long after his successful and profitable show was axed.

It was a joke.

no. but to suggest that things are so bad that right-leaning actors/whatever can't express an opinion is, to me, incorrect.

wait, so your evidence of a hollywood where right-leaning actors are so pressured and intimidated into silence - or suppressing their political views - is a right-leaning actor freely expressing his view on a nationally televised tv show?

lol.

I'm assuming you didn't watch it because you're smarter than that.

i'd already seen it.

still, posting a clip of a right-leaner freely expressing his opinion to show how right-leaners can't freely express an opinion doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me.

ymmv.

lol next-level confirmation bias.

the opinion he was expressing was that being a conservative in hollywood is like being a Jew under the 3rd Reich - with all the talk lately of Nazis I thought this point would be pretty self-explanatory.
His successful show was then subsequently cancelled.

Also the video detailed that conservatives in Hollywood previously had to meet in secret, and now apparently they don't even bother.

post hoc. fallacy (with regard to allen's attendance at the inauguration...)

Although it’s true that Last Man Standing drew solid ratings, Vox took a closer look at the circumstances surrounding the show’s cancellation and found that a variety of reasons why the series might have gotten the axe. For one, Last Man Standing just finished its 6th season, and the show’s cast and staff were likely in line for a pay bump which would have made the show much more expensive to produce:
...
ABC also recently announced that the tremendously popular American Idol program would be returning to their network lineup, which may have forced them to move or cancel other shows to make room for it.

ABC Entertainment president Channing Dungey said on a press call with reporters that she canceled Last Man Standing for the same “business and scheduling reasons” that led to the cancellation of other shows:

vox said:
After season five, if a show isn’t a blockbuster (like The Big Bang Theory or The Walking Dead), every additional season becomes harder and harder to procure, even if the ratings are pretty good on the whole.

The reason is simple — actors, writers, technicians, and other people who’ve stayed with the show for its full run begin to earn pay bumps, usually seeing solid raises in seasons six and seven especially. (You’ll often hear about studios agreeing to new “two- or three-year deals” with certain cast members post-season five, and that’s often to lock those cast members in at a rate the studio can live with for future seasons.)

This makes a lot of sense. Traditionally, seasons four and five are when a studio starts to make back the money it’s invested into a series, from syndication and other means. And Last Man Standing has both lucrative syndication and cable rerun deals with various networks, which have paid off in solid ratings that fed back into the main program (which actually saw viewership increases in season six — almost unheard of).

But it also probably caught the show in a weird Catch-22. Last Man Standing was successful — but not successful enough. It was doing well enough to justify better pay for the cast, especially, but it wasn’t doing well enough for the studio to demand more money from the network (more on this below).
...
There’s one big reason this might be the case: Since ABC doesn’t own the show, it doesn’t get any of the show’s ancillary revenues — from streaming services and syndication and cable reruns and international broadcasts. Those all go to the studio, Fox. ABC pretty much just collects ad revenue at this point.

Thus, ABC has no incentive to keep making more episodes of the show from a financial perspective, where Fox has huge incentive to do so. It’s easy to see how that situation could have grown unsustainable.
...
On a call, ABC Entertainment president Channing Dungey called the decision to not renew Last Man Standing the type of “tough calls” she needs to make in her job. Asked whether the show’s content and the fact that Allen is a prominent Republican played a role in the decision, she said, “I canceled Last Man Standing for the same business and scheduling reasons I canceled The Real O’Neals, Dr. Ken, The Catch, American Crime.”

“It was a challenging (call) because it was steady performer but when we made the decision not to continue with comedies on Friday that’s where it landed,” she added.

boiling this down to "tim allen's show was cancelled because he's a republican" is weak.

the same network is adding a revival of the show 'roseanne'. that show stars roseanne barr who claims she became a republican because of donald trump.

if what you are saying is true, how could roseanne possibly score a show on abc?

obvious conclusion is obvious.

in march, trump claimed that obama had 'tapped his phones'.

the justice department refuted that on friday. it never happened.

how will our resident apologists spin that lie?

By basically claiming the NSA has both parties bugged- which is probably true, but true in the sense that all of our communications are monitored.

Indeed. How about the minimum of 3.5 millions of illegal votes that were not counted in Trump's favor.
He said he was going to prove it, and we would have known by now. Was it actually true?
