2016 American Presidential Campaign

it's funny that republicans go purple with rage if you suggest giving a poor family a few hundred bucks in a 'hand out' but if you give a major corporation a handout of a few million, well, they're just fine with that :)

I believe you're conflating the record number of fed up,rank and file Republicans who voted for Trump with the establishment Republicans and establishment Democrats who are for corporate welfare.I would include the Bernie Democrats in the same group of fed up Americans also disgusted with corporate welfare. Blind ideology and stereotyping does not advance the cause and does nothing in finding common ground.

i agree - it's a shame that so many people (including the "you liberals" crowd here) do it...

Not quite sure what you're getting at here(sarc. wise) but I agree that staunch ideological conservatives are just as guilty as their liberal counterparts. But I really do believe most rank and file Dems and Reps not emotionally or ideologically invested in "their" side hold views that span the spectrum of the left/right paradigm depending on the issue. I know I do which is maybe why I've been registered Independent most of my adult life.I only wish our policy makers devoted more time on common ground issues but it doesn't profit them as much as the divide and conquer strategy that keeps both sides entrenched in corruption and power.

I'm not even convinced at this point that Trump wants to win. I never have been sure of it.

Neither party has great candidates this year, but the differences in the party platforms are drastic enough to make my voting decision easy.

The tin foil hat side of me still thinks he's a Clinton plant, just waiting for the deleted email(s) to show up and confirm that they are in cahoots. :sus:

tin foil hat

If it's true, I wouldn't even count it as a conspiracy theory, just an extreme case of a political dirty trick. Possibly the cleverest thing Bill Clinton ever did. We may never know for sure. Given the connections the Clintons have, I'm sure it wasn't difficult to find some dirt on Trump's business deals to hold over his head. During his years owning a casino in Atlantic City, Trump had to have some dealings with Mafia types. If somebody wore a wire or there was a hidden camera in meetings, there may be enough evidence to send Trump to prison for the rest of his life.

It does seem like he's trying to sabotage his own election a little bit. I mean, the election is just a few months away and most of his policies are "TBD".

You should have policies in place before you even consider running. Has he released his tax returns yet? I was reading the other day that he's been lying about the indebtedness of his businesses, he was reporting about half of the debt he's accumulated. That right there should throw the "He just tells it like it is, a straight shooter, cuz he's not a politician therefore he's incapable of lying through his teeth" argument right out the window.

I just pray he somehow wins. I don't think Hilary is going to be able to fortify the Obama coalition voting base after what she did to Berney. Also I don't think black people will come out to vote for her like they did for Barry. Still trump needs to try to get some other demographics that vote without individual thought.

He's not getting the Latino demographic, trust me. I was very entrenched in that culture for awhile and he is not popular at all. He's going to have to rely on white Americans for the most part, rich and poor. And the poor demographic is vastly split on the subject.

Either way, America can do a lot better than Hilary Clinton and Donald Trump. It's like the government wants a damn revolution.

i agree. he can't articulate firm policy on anything - his response to most issues seems to be "yeah, that's important. we'll take a good look at it."

the straight-shooter myth is totally busted but his core supporters keep repeating it and do not care.

The idiot (Trump) could work it by decrying institutional corruption, legislating from the bench and a return to Constitutional principles, but he's too busy glorifying the Police State. We have too many laws and regs in this country already that make everyone a criminal daily, yet enforcement is reserved for the poor and increasingly the middle-class.If I sound pissed it's because I am and have a 50+ year frame of reference to work with.It seems to me that the Bernie Bros.,even the younger ones are the only ones who get it.The rest of you Millens. just don't seem to GAF because you all accept your slavery, going along to get along. But that's all you know, either by choice or habit until you get caught up for something that everyone does. Then you might squawk but it will fall on deaf ears because worker bees are expendable, including snowflakes. But no big deal,if you're not doing anything wrong (which is always at the discretion of the Police State) then you've got nothing to worry about, right ? One final thought,ANYONE (and you know who you are) that clamors for the rights of minorities and the poor and do nothing about it are the worst of the hypocrites.

"I'll hire the very best people, and they'll come up with the best policy you've ever seen before."

Okay, let's just blindly trust an unproven politician. That always ends well. 8)

It is really actually stupid for any non-Muslim place to allow them in, if they don't have some openness to conversion to Islam. to think that Muslims will just automatically become western is itself kind of a form of bigotry, and arrogance.

Perhaps it is arrogance, but I believe that western culture is far more appealing than conservative Islam.

Memetic fight!

So Hillaries speech. It's kind of awesome that she outright named and shamed the alt-right morons Trump is hanging out with but at the same time this is going to give them more legitimacy and press. Like how stormfront has been getting massive amounts of traffic because of Trump. I think this is bringing a problem to the forefront and we might actually be going to somewhat of a mini civil war if these people aren't quashed quickly.

I could almost bring myself to vote for her after that even though I know deep down it was just a ghost writer that wrote it to attract sane Republicans.
