2016 American Presidential Campaign

The math says that a contested convention is an almost certainty. Neither candidate will have the required amount of delegates to clinch the nomination before the convention. Hence, a contested convention.
Dont bring math into a political debate.

next you will want to use fat, reason and logic.

no I will submit to a bernie avatar for a week, but I wouldn't even ask gm to submit to a hilary ava. maybe just a generic democrat tricolor ass or someting

so how about:

I loose, I wear a bernie avatar
GM looses, he wears a DLC avatar, but I don't know what that looks like'

edit:

dlc_logo_sml.gif

i guess

gm knows how badly this would rub him the wrong way lol
that's the real thing that matters in an avatar bet
hitting the post button and cringing
like seeing a pats or a democrat avvy
or, I imagine, ali seeing a confederate battle flag*
(he'd rather be out $100 apparently)

*I always kind of liked the "Blood Stained Banner" third flag of the confederacy. I'm not from the South but I do think Lincoln was one of our worst presidents and the source of many present ills. Also, where I'm from, you see the battle/ANV flag in bandanas and in cars/trucks etc. even in people with no Southern blood. There it stands for "country," "rebel" and a giant middle finger at political correctness. I used to have such a bandana and would occasionally rock it, among other places, along with a tiedie shirt to Dead shows, etc. ... I wonder how this would go over now. The present Dead are, well, pretty much dead to me now after (a) "Deadheads for Obama" although there were a few good shows by P&F and the neo-Dead after that and (b) John "Your Body is a Wonderland" Mayer although apparently he can actually shred, but I digress ...

Democratic Leadership Council, the "centrist"/"pro-business" Democrat party faction/pressure group that brought the Clintons to power.

when even a conservative like SKL is somewhat for Bernie Sanders, you can see that this man has a voice of reason.

I'm not a conservative but I do lean right due to being brainwashed by listening to only conservative talk radio for well over a decade. I'm still pretty liberal on some (a lot?) of social issues, and while I've been trying to expand my left wing views it's hard because of only listening to one side for so long. With that said I find Bernie the only likable and trustworthy one running but I still don't agree with much of his policies.

I am perhaps really not a conservative at all in the American sense anymore. My natural inclinations are paleoconservative-ish, post-9/11, I caught the neocon bug that was going around, but grew out of it rather rapidly, although my original education was in political science and my intent to become a Republican political operative. I can't stand any recent presidents though, has been the case for longer than Reagen. Eisenhower is the last president historically that I really can appreciate, and I think him to be terribly underrated. I only really lean strongly Republican, strictly speaking, on "guns, gays and God"-type issues to be honest. I am to the left of the mainstream Democrat party on most issues regarding government social programs and the economy. I am to the right of the mainstream GOP on 'the National Question' (immigration) and racial/other identity issues (at least in terms of what I'm willing to say openly.) I depart vehemently from both parties on "national security" issues, foreign relations, military intervention, and perhaps most of all, Zionism (the root of many of these evils.)

I will cut and paste from another thread with a few slight modifications:

This is where I was enumerating some of my more controversial political views under the heading of "Citizenship/The National Question"

An immediate temporary halt to all legal immigration with the intent of "rebooting" the system

Deportation of non-productive illegal immigatints en masse and a road to citizenship for illegal immigrants who have successfully integrated into their communities (literate in English, reasonably acculturated, productive or filling a worthy economic niche.)

An explicit and strong preference for people with immediate historical, racial, and ethnic ties to the immediate U.S. population; such ties to determine preference - not merely notional citizenship or passports, i.e. French citizens of Middle Eastern nationality considered as citizens of their country of origin; more or less free immigation for people with close cultural ties (the UK, Anglosphere and some former colonies including some but not all citizens of former colonies, again to be determined by cultural/ethnic ties), Western and Eastern Europeans with varying quotas depending on cultural and economic factors.)

Very limited immigration for 1st generation family ties or marriage with individuals with U.S. citizenship, individuals of foreign origin who are essential to the running of international corporations now nationalized, or by special individual permit on individual grounds granted by a court appointed for that purpose. Refugees to be taken in on a limited basis, not granted citizenship, and provided with accomodations on federal land in the United States, and the opportunity to earn American citizenship by various routes (military service, being vouched for by an employer, etc.) but contingent upon acculturation. English proficiency required.

Immediate cessation of a "special relationship" with Israel. Deportation of persons with dual Israeli passports or at least removal and complete exclusion from high corporate or government office and the executive (not solely or merely creative) parts of the media. Investigation into and charges of high treason for all such persons who have been found to have misused their power in favor of the Jewish State. Encouragement of non-integrated Jewish communities to emigrate to Israel. Many more will probably emigrate if these measures are put in place. The Jews being a special case, but also similar measures for certain other foreign nationals, especially Chinese, depending on level of connection to the Chinese government and industry, who are involved in American government or industry and especially holders of dual passports.

Full equal rights for native-born Americans of African descent and indigenous people in all aspects but no special treatment of any kind. No "affirmative action" or preferences whatsoever. In government civil service settings where affirmative action has lead to non-Whites becoming a vast minority, rearrangement of civil service systems in the short term to ameliorate the problem.

Full elimination of federal interference in state matters concerning race, even allowance of "separate and equal," but literally equal in terms of resources provided, etc. type provisions of separation provided that separate and unequal (interpreted literally) type accommodations be subject to lawsuits in federal court.

I also recognize "human biodiversity" in believing that things such as racial disparities in, for example, IQ, are inherent and not socially constructed although they may be socially reinforced.

I do believe we have gone way too far in the direction of political correctness regarding race in general. The media fears to talk about black-on-white crime, even the race of wanted suspects is in a surreal and ludicrous manner not mentioned on the news ("several youths assaulted a man on the subway last night...") Police fear to do their jobs because of the heightened tensions around use of force. This ultimately hurts minority communities by having the police step back instead of intervene when necessary. People like Al Sharpton and movements like #BlackLivesMatter are racist demagoguery and anti-White. All lives matter. Black lives matter. White lives matter. Blue (i.e., police) lives matter. We are so quick to jump on racial aspects of issues (police excesses, the "war on drugs") that we miss the bigger picture.

The Lie of Trump's 'Self-Funding' Campaign

Pundits are calling foul on the presumptive Republican nominee for starting to court donors, but he’s depended on donations and loans to himself all along.

Throughout the fall and winter, a favorite media narrative was to link Bernie Sanders and Donald Trump together, two outsiders who were upending their respective parties’ races by blasting donor-driven big-money politics. Sanders has kept to that rhetoric into the spring, making the recitation of his famous $27 average donation a centerpiece of every stump speech. But for Trump, it has turned out to be just that: rhetoric.

With the Republican nomination all but secured, Trump has changed his tune for the general election. Trump is suddenly looking to build a major fundraising operation, complete with donors and super PACs, rather than self-funding, as he’s boasted time and again that he is doing.

it's just another lie - and trump supporters don't seem to care that their candidate of choice is the worst liar - but this is going to change things. he's going to start taking money and depending on donors who'll expect something in return. his boast that he is beholden to none - just another lie...
