2016 American Presidential Campaign

Why do you view usps, ssi, etc as failures? I know they are not perfect. They aren't profitable and suffer from some inefficiencis. I also believe they can be greatly improved. they were never meant to to profitable. They are public services .

Half the country is on the dole and in poor health so of course these services are costing everyone who pays taxes. A better government with good economic policies will help fix this. The status quo eg clinton or Cruz will keep dragging us down.

It's like having a national park. Only a big organization can establish protect and maintain it. It doesn't make money, but everyone can enjoy it. Only a government is stable enough to do this. The us has the human resources to be a great place to live again. It only lacks good leadership.

Just further proves your ignorance on the topic. USPS is having problems because the conservatives in Congress thought it would be a fair idea to force them to fund pensions of employees who haven't yet been born (if the reason for this is not immediately obvious to you, and I understand it wouldn't be because a walnut sized cortex can only have so much critical insight, it's because UPS an Fedex have the politicians in their pockets).

Social Security is perfectly solvent; its general fund gets pilfered by special procedural tricks in Congress where money from the SS wallet goes places other than paying SS to the elderly retired. If this didn't happen, SS would be solvent indefinitely.

Medicare/Medicaid - don't even get me started on this. If we didn't have these, our citizens, some of whom have worked hard and paid their taxes for 50+ years, would die like dogs in the street.

Just because the party name proper was "National Socialist Workers Party" doesn't make them socialist or leftist. They chose that name to help appeal to working class morons not unlike yourself who are prone to gullibility.

Anyone who knows anything knows that the Nazis were FAR RIGHT on the political spectrum (fascists).

Communism and Nazis are two sides of the same coin. Communism beat Nazism in terms of body count in the 20th century with about 100 million dead but the numbers aren't significant, both resulted in mass extermination.

I don't know what political landscape you're watching but progressive liberals are about to take over with a politic revolution. I'm not sure where you get the idea they're losing power.
 
And once they do, they have the perfect road map of the individual counties all over the country that need to targeted with higher quality education simply by looking at which counties voted heavily for Trump.

I own a prospering small business for which I work hard as fuck.

Higher education needs to be defunded and lose tax exempt status. (BTW my autocorrect wouldn't let me type defunded 3 times in a row, usually I choose when to autospell.)

When I was in college some of the classes I took were a fucking joke. For example I took a sociology class where I never had to pick up the book because if I chose the most politically correct answer on multiple choice questions and wrote PC bullshit on essay questions I got an A. And my degree isn't worth much my current income wouldn't be lower without it, I'm out here grindin.

College these days is teaching kids not to think for themselves or question authority. It is the belly of the beast. Shut it down.
 
Also, I always assumed there would be LESS lazy people trying to get something for free under a Sanders presidency. With a $15 minimum wage even someone working at Walmart or McDonald's wouldn't be eligible for welfare or any sort of government assistance. So what can you do other than work? I mean even unemployment runs out after like 5 months. That would mostly just leave the people who actually need welfare, people who can't work because they're elderly or disabled. And of course there'd be less disabled people because everyone would have much more affordable access to preventative and proper Healthcare so that would bring government assistance costs down too.

And then you have his actual affordable college plan, which doesn't Just offer "free college for everyone" but DOES award free college to any child that works hard and gets the grades.

Put all that together and you have less undeserving people getting government assistance, more assistance for the people who actually need it, all the lazy people making $15 an hour who will stay at places like Walmart and McDonald's their entire lives, and the kids smart/motivated who are born into poor families getting free college degrees to go on into more productive and better paying careers. Sounds ideal to me.

People bitch about raising the minimum wage to $15 because "burger flippers" don't deserve that much. So McDonald's pays them near-starvation wages while the government subsidizes the rest with our tax dollars in the form of welfare. One in three Walmart employees is on welfare that we pay for. Just another form of corporate subsidy. I say let the companies who benefit the most off of the work of these employees pay their full wage. I won't shed a tear if Walmart only makes $2 billion a year in profit instead of $5 billion.

This almost leaves me speechless, but with what I've seen in the last 15-20 years I'm not really surprised that the right wing crypto-fascist is the one advocating for the abolishment of higher education.

I bet you think all public schools should be abolished and replaced by for-profit private and charter schools too?

Literally none of the mainstream media said a word about what happened in Iowa this evening. They were all showing live feeds of protesters interrupting Trump's speeches every 30 seconds he tried to talk.

There are thousands of Bernie supporters messaging all the major news outlets demanding they report on this Polk County bullshit, so hopefully we'll hear a little bit about it eventually. I went to CNN's page and motherfucked them on every post I could find because an hour into this Iowa ordeal they only posted an article about rattlesnakes. Fucking rattlesnakes.

You make some good points theoretically, but you are living in a fantasy world completely disconnected with reality. This country is moving left, and quickly. Which it should - it's really the right wing of U.S. politics that has been extremely radicalized over the last 15-20 years, Democrats tend to be slightly left leaning centrists, whereas there is a very sizable portion of the Republican party occupied by right wing extremists. In the not so distant future minorities will be the majority in this country. Every year a fresh new batch of millenials (the largest generation in the US) reaches voting age and a bunch of old bigoted fucks are finally put out of the misery of being a vegetable who can do nothing but watch Fox news. We are going to be seeing huge shifts to the left in this country in the coming years, the 2016 election is only the tip of the iceberg.

Treezy: You really ought to just be quiet. Oftentimes the best thoughts are left unsaid.

I read the article about why black voters don't support bernie sanders. This was a little upsetting. Firstly religious views should never be a part of politics. If politics were based on religious morals instead of science and precedent we would have sharia law. Secondly, bernie sanders was actively part of the civil rights movement...this just smacks of a "what have you done for me lately." attitude.

It is time for a revolution. I would love to see a moderate congress, and a left leaning president coupled with an even split of supreme court justices. Repeal the citizens united act and let the average person have a little say in the political arena.

The idea of helping people out with college tuition is such an incredible idea. Regressive far right politicians don't want this because the minute people educate themselves is the minute they start demanding to be heard and represented.
 
Man this movement is unstoppable. Clinton was leading Bernie by THIRTY POINTS in the polls a week ago and the latest poll released this morning now shows Bernie ahead, 2 days before the primary. Looks like it's gonna be another Michigan situation. These kind of upsets and coming back from that far down are unheard of in modern American politics.
