2016 American Presidential Campaign

My only issue with Bernie is he is a socialist.

He's not a socialist,

Now, what other problems do you have with him?

The sun will set on this country in 10-20 years if current politics continue.

This would likely happen if the Terminator taking advice from the ghost of Ronald Reagan were president. Empires don't last, brethren.

ie- It's lost all meaning entirely. You could be a socialist and not even know it. Ever mull that one around? I'm talking about the kind of socialist that you are, not the kind of socialist you think I'm talking about.

In the political arena, we call liberals like Sanders "social democrats". Little "d" democrat. Democratic socialists want to overthrow the capitalist system, which Sanders clearly does not.

Screw the labels and listen to the ideas. Screw the 2party system(really all the same). Judge the person based on their past actions. Trump sues people for a living, remember that football league back in the 80s? Univision refusing to air "his" miss America pageant? He's a narrcissitic asshole who doesn't deserve the money daddy handed down to him. I remember him going broke and filing bankruptcy in the early 90s and he lost all of daddy's money, he's really not even a good businessman. It's unreal to me that so many people are falling for his schtick. Trump doesn't give a shit about America or anyone but himself, he worships at the altar of money and decadence. If he's actually elected the income disparity will become much much worse. He will look out for his own interests before any of ours and that makes him a threat to the average man. Wake up America! Sometimes a professional politician is better, as much as it pains me to say that I believe it to be true in THIS case. I'm baffled that so many would readily vote against their own interests, I just don't get it...

^Well he calls himself one, even. My party (a Trotskyist organization) has even endorsed him. That was a head shaker.

If he did happen to make it to the finals, I would definitely give him a vote, though. He's not a typical democrat, and has been an independent for 40 years. But right now he's still a member of the DNC.

Carson's flat tax plan indicates to me that either he's an idiot, or he thinks we are all idiots.

Either way, he's not getting my vote.

I always thought both the Pauls were using libertarianism as lip service to appeal to voters.

And Trump is an idiot.

See I can appreciate people from all trains of thought regardless of obvious politicing. Ben Carson is a nuerosurgeon and Is a whole lot smarter than me or you. The biggest issue is every single candidate is beholden to their financial supporters minus trump of course. A flat tax is like conservative porn there is no way it would happen

Or perhaps its fair to have everyone pay equally to the public coffers. I for instance pay $8000 per year towards property tax, most of which goes towards public schools. I dont have any children using these schools. Why should I pay $8000 per year where someone in an apartment with five kids pays effectively nothing towards their own childrens education. I suppose there is too sides to the coin. Depends what side you are on.

He's basing his tax plan on the bible!

He may be a damn fine neurosurgeon (I don't know), but that doesn't give him any political expertise.

His whole 10% plan has been criticized by multiple sources for being unrealistic (he claims it could be up to 15%, but others say 20% or 25% ). 20% to 25% would be a huge tax hike for most Americans.

Regardless of the exact number, his plan is regressive as hell (and you don't need to be a neurosurgeon to figure that out).

As I said, he's an idiot, or he thinks we're idiots.

Or simply has a different opinion than you. Rather than being an "idiot".

Read one of his books "America the Beautiful" is a great one to start at.

Our tax law is infinitely complex. The IRS is a huge organization and it takes many years of study to understand tax law. Its costing businesses billions upon billions every year to comply with these complex laws and Obamacare and other regulations. His idea of a flat tax is radical but it opens up this important discussion.

We could effectively lower the tax rate across the board and close loopholes abd end up raising overall revenue. When a pack of cigarettes in NYC costs over $12 and more than half of that is various taxes its evident politicians have been abusing the tax system. An endless cycle of spending, paid for by increasing taxes relentlessly.

Take for instance Trumps hardline stance against immigration andv"birthright citizenship". If a poor Mexican immigrant has three children that all are citizens by virtue of being born here, the American taxpayers will be paying for their schooling. It costs about $10,000 or more per year per student in most districts. Thats $30,000 per year deficit per year there. Add in emergency room visits and other health care, food stamps and other services kids are eligible for and it could be a $50,000 per year deficit for one family. Extrapolate for a million families in similar circumstances and youll see our budget deficit gets bigger and bigger. The solution of the Democrats would be to just keep raising taxes on the wealthy. In reality though middle-class will be affected as well, and low-income Americans will see: their public schools more and more crowded, more resources on ESL and teaching English rather than athletics or technology, longer waits in the hospital, needing bilingual staff at all schools hospitals DMV ect.
