Back in 1968 I was too young to vote but I helped my mom work on the campaign for
Shirley Chisolm, first black candidate for a major party and second woman candidate. She was awesome. She served 7 terms in congress, first African American woman to be elected. When I visited the esteemed Mr JungleJuice in Washington he still worked at the Capitol and he gave me a tour. Best part was seeing Ms Chisolm's great 60's style loud, colorful portrait hanging amongst a sea of non-descript overly serious portraits of white guys in dark suits.
On topic, I am going to be chagrined to have to vote for Hilary Clinton as the first woman I have ever gotten to vote for as president--just never liked her as a politician.
I don't listen to TV news at all so it all comes from public radio if I'm in the car or print. Just thankful that Bernie is in there saying things that no one else will say. After 8 years of Obama being ridiculously called a Socialist it was refreshing to hear Bernie's response when they hurled the dreaded word at him and said, "What do you say to people who would call you a socialist?" and have him respond, "I am."
Last thought for now: I haven't heard the word god from Hilary and that at least is refreshing. It's getting to the point where I feel like I'm at a christian church every time a politician opens his or her mouth. Does Hilary do this on TV?
