I'm not sure about licensed... doesn't change that they give that shit out like candy. They give this sort of shit out for everything, even nausea and chlorpromazine. They (those in power) do not want you to think deeply. And yes, orexin antagonists are supposed to have an abuse potential akin to melatonin. I have a feeling there gonna just be the next benedryl for sleep. Not super useful but super accessible and better than nothing. They've also got a low ass ceiling dose iirc. I'm not hopeful they'll be great for insomnia.

I've been on high doses of Chlorpromazine in psych wards and as much as it sucks I can say it does have multiple uses rather than just being an antipsychotic. It is an antiemetic, mood stabiliser, can be used to improve the effects of analgesics and can be used to treat chronic unstoppable hiccups.

I understand that it's not the best drug to hand out freely, my experience on it was hell. But I've also experienced lithium toxicity at the hands of a negligent, underfunded psych ward. However I am very careful of what I say about these drugs despite how badly they fucked me up, especially when it can really be helpful for someone else. I do give advice and share my experience with others but I always emphasise that it's only my experience and that theirs (hopefully) won't be the same.
