2+ Year Phenibut use cessation

I've been taking Phenibut for well over 2 years non-stop (every day). (I am 22, began regular phenibut use at age 17) I've quit before when I was taking it for a few months, and with a little taper I managed to stop it (and then soon after becoming an alcoholic, go figure). But this is a whole new level withdrawals I'm facing.
I usually eyeball 1-2 grams in the morning, and then around 8 hours later another 1 or 2 (3-4 if I'm doing social activities). It's always wrecked my guts, and I think it's now draining my energy in return for little benefit. Lately the anxiolytic effects are so close to gone, but if I stop taking it I just get all sorts of symptoms (insomnia, irritability, depression, shitty driving skills)

My job consists of hauling big trailers, working in high places, and a lot of tedious mental and physical activity which requires me to stay calm and focused, which is what I'm really worried about in beginning to get myself off this stuff. I owe the best times of my life to this chemical and all my social life, but this stuff is just doing more harm than good after all these years.

Is there anything that can help my withdrawal symptoms? and any way to help my GABA receptors upregulate?
And is there any OTC anxiolytic that I can replace phenibut with that works just as well?

This is an important realization right here. Continue to be aware of this as you enter what may very well be - and I speak only realistically, here - a difficult few months. Two years is a long time to be using a potent GABA-B agonist such as Phenibut.

Withdrawal symptoms vary from person to person; I personally used Phenibut for fifteen months near-daily and found that I had very little trouble utilizing a relatively aggressive and thus brief taper, but that is NOT to say your experience will be the same. I do, however, feel that at this point getting off the stuff ASAP ought to be your top priority. Well-done on seeking methods to do it in the safest possible way...

What daily dose have you found yourself at now? Knowing that information would help in determining whether or not attempting a rapid reduction in daily phenibut consumption is even a possibility - especially if you've found yourself above ~8grams per day (although even 1,000mg/day might be enough to justify gently easing yourself away from it, regardless of the benefit an 'asap taper' would bring.

The key here is to do it as conscientiously as possible!

taper down, more medication isn't going to help.
