eating strawberries also helps with whitening teeth.

what kind of tooth brush are you using? i was using a tooth brush that i was told was way too big, and i thought that i was getting my teeth super clean. ends up it made my gum issues worse.

Apple cider vinegar works great for sunburns, never tried the coconut oil though.

I was, but it didn't go over well. Sorry about that. I also recommended the ACT. It has helped me tremendously. My dentist told me that I had very soft enamel and that I had to use that every day. So far so good. She says my enamel is a bit stronger now.

It's annoying to make myself floss every night, so I don't always do it every night. I'm told that is the number one thing to keep the gums healthy, so maybe PillThrill can focus more on that.

I don't know if whitening with the gum problems is a good idea. It might irritate it a lot more. Maybe if you called your dentist he/she could let you know what is the best thing to do? Or maybe he/she can help you out by doing something at your next appointment?
 
Pillthrill-you've said twice already "but it makes me feel better" but isn't this thread about those very same things giving you pain? Just a thought :)
 
What's causing the pain PT, the gums or the neck line of the teeth? Whitening will definitely irritate the gums. If it is the lower back molars, why are you wanting to whiten this area? A week off the whitening, concentrating on getting the gums healthy is probably best.

If it's the tooth or root surface that is sensitive then I usually recommend GC Tooth mousse. I don't know what or who distributes it in the states but it has calcium, phosphate and an active ingredient called CCP-ACP, that coats the tooth surface and can also help "strengthen" teeth. I use it with all whitening cases before and after and I find very few people have a problem.

Gingivitis is the body reacting to something foreign, ie plaque or bacteria. If you remove the irritant the gums are less likely to bleed. A little like your skin going red in response to a splinter. Try and track down some disclosing dye from a chemist, it stains plaque red and you can see any areas you are missing.
 
Flossing helps gingivitis. Also, make sure to brush the gums but not too hard. My dentist said I brush too hard on the gums.

As for sunburn, I stay out of the sun due to the possibility of premature wrinkles and I am fair skinned and live in South Florida, but I know better and stay away from that stuff. I use sunscreen every day if I go out except on my 1 hour exercise runs. Tanning beds are horrible for your skin. I don't know if areas without a beach sees it, but South Florida has plenty of old people covered with leathery, nasty skin from tanning all their lives. It's fucking gross.

My friends who tan always swore by coco butter and moisturizer.
 
use a sensitive-tooth toothpaste before whitening, or quit whitening. it can be hell.

about the bleeding- floss and brush regularly and your mouth adjusts. it took about 10 days for me to get into a routine. afterward, no gum bleeding whatsoever from flossing.

perhaps you might want to get a brush with softer bristles, or i got a sonicare from my orthodontist.
 
dunno how to cure the gingivitis but i have pretty healthy gums from using a medium-bristled, small-headed brush that allows me to manouever alllllll the way to the back and dig into those gums deep without pain like harder bristled brushes. i find that medium is a good balance between being hard enough to effectively brush away shit and soft enough to not take the skin off my gums. and of course, flossing. my dentist recommended digging down deep into the gums for the best floss. causes bleeding sometimes but i've never had problems since
 
The skin tips helped. I had to use olive oil, kinda felt like food or something. But hey it quit itching ao well I told my bf about it. He managed to get a burn too...

Another thing that works wonders for sunburn and itchy skin: Aloe vera or any lotions/skin gels with aloe vera in them. It will promote faster healing of the skin. Even if you just get yourself a nice aloe vera plant you can occasionally pluck off part of the plant and apply the sap inside of it to cuts, burns, sunburn, itchy skin, even poison ivy rashes.
 
I had already done that. Cut from the plant, took out the clear inside then ran that through with my hand blender.
 
Don't smoke cigs, don't smoke herb, use mouthwash that does not contain alcohol, make sure to floss your teeth gently, get an extra soft toothbrush head, brush your teeth very gently slowly and softly

lay off sugary foods or generally anything bad for your teeth until it heals

it's a very good idea to be extra special to your mouth until it heals

very important, make sure you drink enough water to stay hydrated and flush a little water around your mouth periodically. this is good for your gum and tooth health and helps keep away the bad bacteria
 
Wow, I'm doing pretty bad according to that. I've quit smoking all together. But in general I'm addicted to sugar and perhaps once a month I get a couple glasses of water. Idk I just don't like water.
 
If you are still having problems with gingivitis....I always reccomend using a Waterpik to my patients with gum and or sensitivity issues. I use mine every other day and it kicks ass when it comes to removing plaque from below the gumline. Waterpiks are excellent oral health tools......your gums will thank you! :)

Only a couple of glasses of water a month?8o What do you drink then? Wow I cant imagine only having so little water , I drink water like a fish. I also drink other things of course, but water is very important.
 
Where do you buy coconut oil? Is there a certain kind you get? I hear so much about it on this site I want to try some for my skin and hair.
