I'm actually talking about euphoria. Klonopin is one of the most anxiolytic benzos. In fact I'd say its better than Valium and I'd still be on it if it hadn't stopped working altogether for me.
I never found Klonopin to be recreational though. I guess it depends on your definition of recreational. Xanax and Valium have a recreational buzz associated with them. Hell Xanax's rush was actually pretty intense for me. Klonopin never had a rush or any consistent noticeable intoxicating buzz, it just was exceptionally good at abolishing anxiety and panic and its the ONLY thing I ever found useful for agoraphobia.
I assumed from the phrasing of the post that the OP was looking for a rush of some sort. I agree with you that Ativan is pretty much worthless in that regard but it is more intoxicating than Klonopin is.
One of the reasons that Klonopin is preferred over Valium and especially Xanax is because it is considered to be far less recreational than either of them. A select few report them being more euphoric than the other benzos but in general they consist of those of us with anxiety issues who associate abolished anxiety with recreational effects. If I was rating benzos based on anxiety effects, Klonopin is the best in every category except for rebound and tolerance development which Valium significantly edges out Klonopin on.
Euphoria - Versed IV, Xanax, Ativan IV, Valium, and oral Ativan and Klonopin tied for last place.
Anxiety as needed - Klonopin, Xanax, Ativan, Valium
Anxiety daily - Klonopin, Valium, Ativan, Xanax
Agoraphobia - Klonopin - all the others are pretty much ineffective for it in my experience
In the midst of a panic attack - Ativan IV, Klonopin, oral Ativan, Xanax, Valium
Tolerance development (slowest to fastest) - Valium, Ativan, Klonopin, Xanax
Withdrawal symptoms (worst to best) - Klonopin, Xanax, Valium, Ativan
Withdrawal symptoms (duration - shortest to longest recovery time) - Ativan, Xanax tend to recover the fastest while Valium and Klonopin are tied for last and are also the most likely to trigger PAWS
There are way too many factors to consider when it comes to benzos. It is a sad day when we get so far into our anxiety that we start to associate relief from anxiety (what we would normally have called baseline anxiety levels) as euphoria but I know what you're talking about GT.
