BostonBrownTown,
At one time I too have been to the highs and probably even the depths/lows that you too have experienced. I never once asked for help to quit, it wasn't offered, wasn't accessible and therefore wasn't necessary in my epic adventure to stop. Though I will say the company that manufactured the substance buprenorphine (aka Suboxone) did aid in my quest, though they were not prescribed - making it even that much harder and expensive for me to stop... the next step was getting off subs, which as you and I and everyone on here probably knows was the longest hardest thing ever. It wasn't a quick severe w/d like off dope or OC but a long drawn out experience where each day gets worse instead of better, until you get to about the 3 or 4 month mark i would say, thats about when the days KINDA start to get better... I used a combo of Tramad0l + benzos (for 1st week or 2 coming off sub dose of 0.25mgs) and a huge cocktail of supplements during this process.... It wasn't easy but like I always say "If one can conquer a opiate addiction, then one can conquer anything mentally or physically." I fell back many times, back onto subs more or less and I still work on getting better to this day... It sucks and I hate it.. being on subs is horrible - as you might know - but its also horrible being off them... so yeah... Sometimes I wonder if maybe bupe wasn't the best way to go but its to late now.. Hopefully my brain repairs itself but its still uncertain, and it frightens me to read some people that have been off subs for 4 or 5 years and still don't feel right...All I can do is wait and see and try my best to get better man. Yea I'll still dabble here and there once in a blue moon but never more then a one time thing...
