14months old cannabis with zero effect?

It can very depending on strain, age, climate and storage condition.

Oldest weed I've ever smoked was like 5 years old.

A buddy of mine quit smoking, gave me his pipe.

A few years later, I was helping him organize some stuff and he found a bag with a couple roaches in it that he'd forgotten about 5 years prior.

So for old time's sake we dropped it in and smoked them.

Quality had definitely noticeably degraded, but I'm honestly surprised we got anything out of it at all at that age.

Crazy part is that was all he wanted. I offered him his pipe back and he told me no and to just keep it. 🤷‍♂️

i smoked some 5 year old bud that was packaged correctly. it was top quality and potent when it was new, a little less potent years later, but still got me stoned... would be kind of weird for older buds only 14 month old to have zero effects... supposedly the thc turns into CBN which makes it a more sleep high. idk.

^^^

i gotta try that cob curing thing one day.

anyway, i feel as though it might be strain dependent.

i've had fairly old stuff (two years iirc) mellow out a lot... not like super sleepy and lethargic, just more mellow... less of an overall effect but absolutely no anxiety.

perfect for mixing with other drugs where i don't wanna get amped up.

i wanna try strains side by side aged for some set times. weed takes so long... between growing and processing, then curing/ ageing... and i wanna breed my own varieties... gonna take years and years...

For sure the results are strain dependant. It all depends on whats in the bud to begin with. Cob curing isn't like regular "air sealed" curing, and you don't even need to use a cob. A regular vacuum sealed bag works fine.

It is easier to vacuum seal in a plastic bag, it also helps them to sweat.
When the buds are dried to the point that you would start jar curing, if you vacuum seal them they will start sweating, and after a couple of weeks if you open the bag they will have become quite wet and started decomposing.
The colors should have turned orange, yellow autumn colors. I have found the color changes are more pronounced if it is compressed in a cob. It needs to generate heat inside the bag to cure properly.
I dont understand the scientific reasons only how to make it occur. Any buds that smell sweet should be kept aside as they will be cured well, the others once dried will be ok as well dont throw them out.
The end result can vary depending on what the buds were like going in.
Its like making wine if the grapes are poor quality the wine will not be high quality, it takes a lot of trial and error but if you follow my method exactly it will give you a good chance of success and you can fine tune it to your taste.

I read that just air, sunlight, and time (months) will turn THC into CBN.

It might be worth trying on a small to medium size amount. Especially if it's a strain that I'm finding is too high in THC, and causing anxiety etc.

Also, long infusions, 4 hours plus, are said by some to achieve the same result.

An alternative is to add CBD isolate/flower to the thc material (or take it at the same time). Linalool should also wipe out any THC anxiety, one essential oil is 97%+ pure linalool, called "Ho wood oil".

That will happen.

Had the most beautiful white rhino blueberry growing hydro in my house, was all I smoked all I knew -- than got raided and had to go to buying brick weed; about 2 years later I found some of the old hydro in a couch coushin and thought "Ohh sweet I haven't had a GOOD buzz since those fuckers kicked my door in" Wah Wahh Wahh nothing.

This is my (Real and logistical) problem with weed that is not from a dispensary as well. It gets harvested and I think is very much worth the price for the first couple months -- after that --- idk I don't want weed harvested any more than 5-6 months ago TOPS -- that is something worth label checking for.

It should store longer than that, if you keep it in cool, dark, airtight containers.

If you're growing or buying larger amounts than you'll use in a few months, it seems the storage methods will be pretty important.

So you could separate it into smaller batches, that would maybe last a month or so, and vacuum seal all other one months batches in Mylar pouches, that you would only re-open and expose to the air, one at at a time.

Kind of like the methods most 'preppers' seem to use for long term storage of various food stuffs.

^It is --- vacuum bags and the freezer were the way to go (If I recall/am still up to date?)

Most of the old brick weed is like decades old (I hear)

Heat, air, light will degrade cannabis over time. All cannabis degrades over time. After a year it becomes much less potent. I'd notice my stuff would start to degrade at 8 or 9 months. The best way to preserve cannabis is to either vacuum seal it and store it in a freezer. Even preserved that way it will eventually lose it's potency.

Cob curing, bricking, and other methods of fermenting cannabis degrade the terpenes and resin. They were developed in humid tropical regions where it is very difficult to dry and store cannabis properly. I have no idea if it keeps the resin from degrading slower over time, perhaps it keeps air and light from penetrating. Regardless you're top shelf into low shelf for no reason except for nostalgia for old time Mexican or African smoke. The best cannabis has been handled carefully, cured by hanging in a dark cool room without moisture until dry, then stored away from heat, light, and air.

How about good ole putting it in a sealed glass jar, then putting a bag over the glass jar, and keeping big it in a cool dark room .

Have you tried the above?

^ Is the freezer better or worse than that method. Also cold and dark.

Just wondering I dont have year long supplies anymore but I like knowing things lol

Talking about cob curing, with the right starting material - ie genuine sativa varieties which are still available - it actually becomes something far more potent and active orally. So it's turning top shelf into equally top shelf. This process partly relies on the starting material having real terpene diversity which is almost non-existent in modern commercial varieties.

You have some good knowledge on cannabis. Maybe you can be a mod. I was offered but didnt decline but couldnt promise to make a certain number of posts per week but I love contributing and learning

I’ve got some cannabis a year old and seems to have lost the taste while smoking it. Maybe Im wrong bc I picked up two different strains bc I haven’t been able to find super lemon haze, high sativa, and master kush, indica, in January 2026 bc have had difficulty finding high sativa, high indications strains, only more hybrids, in years and still has ine year old cannabis stored in glass jar

The comparison seems worlds different, esp taste and even the way the buds look

I put lemon peels in some but not sure it didn’t anything as far as volume.

It works best if you squeeze the lemon peel right next to your cannabis material. That way the lemon terpenes spray directly onto the cannabis. If you spray them into a candle flame you'll see "sparks".

It works for lemon, orange, grapefruit, lime, mandarin, tangerine peels etc

I have about a year olds worth of THC, in a glass jar, that has clearly lost potency bc I bought, two months ago two ounces of thca, and it is worlds different.

I've tried putting lemon peels in it for a few hours, even only one hour and even after a few weeks it seems wetish and more difficult to smoke. Sure something is felt and so much less potent than two month old stuff

Do I need to freeze the two month old stuff bc I don't see myself using it in even a year.

I guess worst come to worst just smoke this here and there . It seems to give little effect compared to the two month old thca.
