CNN)Chinese police have arrested more than 133,000 people and seized 43.3 tons of illegal narcotics during a six-month anti-drug campaign, the country's Ministry of Public Security has announced.

Authorities also handled 115,000 drug-related crimes -- such as robbery -- and 606,000 cases of drug use during the nationwide campaign to "ban drugs in hundreds of cities," Liu Yuejin, Assistant Minister of Public Security, said Wednesday.

The figures were nearly double the same period a year earlier, while the amount of narcotics seized was up by 44.9%, according to the ministry.

Liu said drug trafficking groups have "suffered a heavy blow" and drug users have been "forcefully regulated."

However, the police also paid a price, Liu said, in quotes carried by the state-run Xinhua news agency. Nine police officers died and another 657 were wounded in the mission, with 76 severely wounded. The ministry rewarded 60 units and 100 people.

Liu said China's drug-related problems were still severe, with online drug trafficking an increasing problem.

He said the ministry had launched a three-month online campaign starting in April targeting people engaged in drug-related Internet crimes.

China's becoming so modern... look at them doing the politically correct oppression.

"Drug users have been 'forcefully regulated.'"

Lol, that's what the DEA has been doing to us--sometimes successfully but not always--for, what, 45 years now?

Knowing China, they will crack down to save face while other officials are probably running heroin plantations. You can't believe anything that government says. They have their hands in every jar.

Oh goodie. A crooked communist government with several decades' worth of ongoing basic human rights violations is proudly letting the public know that they have essentially managed to get the organic conveyer belts of never-ending Chinese entrepreneurs - who are willing and able to become bottom fish 'street drug' dealers despite any risks to their lives - moving forward. Again.

And would you look at that: this time, over 600,000 consumers of mind altering substances deemed evil - by Alcohol and/or Nicotine using pathological liars - have also been culled off the streets and into Scientology-inspired, Chinese-flavored, pound-me-in-the-ass strict compliance camps because... they victimized themselves? They asked? Okay then.

Is the Chinese government is aware that, according to a 2012 report by the UNODC, ~5% of the world's population consumes the aforementioned psychotropic 'street drugs' without a permission slip from their respective governments? Because if that number is correct, then China has only... ~67,000,000 drug users left to "forcefully regulate." May they fail miserably May those goons experience an outbreak of extremely contagious Halitosis and ingrown toenails.

How can it be ´forcefully regulated´. It´s like saying, slaving volunteers .. lol

The richer the country gets, the more recreational drugs the populace will do. That's progress, baby. Good luck trying to stop it.

^ its never been about stopping it

More about setting up a system to stop an ∞ amount of water and receiving power, oppression and wealth to try and do so.

Sounds kinda like a mystical fountain to be found near Florida.. but this one actually exists. Never ending benefits?? ;)
