My question is, would a micro-enema work just as good as a big enema bag?
The reason I'm asking this is, I just spoke with a nurse about enema bags and she said they're very hard to handle on your own.
She sounded kinda surprised that they sell them at pharmacies for people to use at home.

There are 2 micro-enemas at the pharmacies where I live.
One contains 8.5g of sorbitol that's mixed with water in a 10mL tube you squirt up the rectum.
It acts as a fast acting laxative and is a micro enema as well. So it cleans out the intestine.

The other one comes in a bottle of either 120mL or 240mL
The active substances are sorbitol and docusate-sodium (docusate-sodium may also be known as: Dioctyl-sodium sulfosuccinate').

The dosages are:
Sorbitol: 250mg/mL (3G to 6G)
Docusate-sodium: 1mg/mL (120mL or 240mL)

Basically the difference is, this one increases the water content in the feces, therefore loosening up the hardened feces making it easier to empty your bowls.

So it's an extra powerful laxative but also a micro-enema.

Which would you feel would be more beneficial? I think the second one might be better if you're already a little constipated.
But then again, wouldn't it release more water and that, therefore cleaning out the intestines and rectum more.

Or is a big ol' 1.5-2L enema bag better? Wouldn't it be really hard to use on your own?
What's your opinion on these 3 options?

Here are 2 wiki links, 1 for each substance involved:
Docusate-sodium/Dioctyl-sodium sulfosuccinate
Sorbitol

EDIT: Are enema bags REALLY that difficult to you use alone? Is there a guide here or something? Gonna read up some when I get home.
But what do you guys think about this? What would be more sufficient and which would clean out the most so you'd get the most out of your drug?

Although I have never given myself an large enema before I do know it's not a very hard thing to do to yourself and they work a lot better if what you want is a cleanse not just constipation relief. Giving yourself a fleet enema is pretty easy I've done it before but its really up to you whether you want to use a bag enema or a small fleet enema.

If you want to use a bag for a larger amount of water then here are the steps to give yourself a proper enema.
For best results, and your own comfort, the enema should be taken while lying down. If you will be giving the enema to yourself the first thing you should do is set up the area for the procedure. Make sure the hook your going to hang the bag from is suspended at the proper height (18-24 inches above the rectum). Then place a pad or bath towel where you will be lying down. Slide the shutoff clamp to a point on the tubing where you will be able easily reach it while in position. Check this out ahead of time by hanging the empty bag and assuming the position, just to be sure. Prepare the solution(if nessesary). The water temperature should be slightly above body temperature, between 98 and 105 degrees F at time of use till it’s comfortable to the touch. Fill the enema bag 90% full with the water. Lubricate the rectal nozzle with K-Y jelly or oil. Open the shutoff for a moment and allow enough solution to flow to expel the air from the enema tubing. This helps to reduce cramping. Lubricate your anus with more ky jelly or oil. Make sure you can easily reach the shutoff valve. Put a pillow under your head.

Gently insert the rectal tube 3 to 4 inches into the rectum. Rotate or twist the tube back and forth to make for easier insertion. Open the shutoff valve and allow the solution to flow. At the first indication of discomfort stop and wait a few moments. Then release the shutoff and allow the enema to resume. Feel free to interrupt the flow as frequently as is necessary to assist in minimizing the discomfort. Taking slow deep breaths will help. As the enema progresses a feeling of fullness will develop. This is normal, and discomfort can be minimized by insuring that not too much solution is introduced too quickly. Take your time.
When the bag is empty clamp off the shutoff and slowly remove the rectal tube. Remain in position and retain the solution for a while. For a maintenance enema a few minutes are sufficient, but if you are constipated try to hold it in for 5 to 15 minutes. Go to the toilet and expel the enema. An enema seldom comes out in a single movement so stay near the toilet for one half to one hour.

If your were to choose the one with docosate sodium or just sorbital I would choose the one without the sodium doucosate because it doesn't do very much its un nessesary in my opinion. What I would do is drink some miralax or lax a day whatever brand you get will work then give yourself the enema an hour or so later it should make things flow out easier this is what is recommended at the hospital for constipated patients where I live.

Might give the big bag a try then, there are loads of info online on how to use it properly alone, I think I even found a video on it as well!
Plus it cleans more, so you get more of the drug that way too.
