12:50-1:00 PM: Choked down 1.3 oz of nutmeg which I powdered down from nuts. I used a nutcracker, then coffee grinder to grind the 9 nuts up. H20 was the only substance used to help me consume the inconsumable and, in fact the only substance consumed so far today; 4 cups. (I'm trying to avoid that dehydration that’s been associated with nutmeg). I think I can safely say that I came closer to puking than ever before from a substance when I was consuming that nutmeg.
1:05 PM: Left to see a 1:40 showing of "Saw". The acting wasn't that good but the movie was all right overall. I started to feel a mellow, weed-like high somewhere during the movie that wasn't very noticeable until I walked out of the theater. Once out, I couldn't stop smiling. I felt the need to ponder faces that walked by and that kept me entertained for awhile; everyone seemed interesting to me.
4:00 PM: Started to head home, still feeling that mellow, weedlike high.
4:20 PM: Another wave hits me during the car-ride and I feel like you do about 2 hours after you have gotten stoned. The only difference was that I had less visual effects at this time than weed would have given me.
5:15 PM: The visual effects kicked in: it took longer to focus on things, peripheral vision gone, and I would zone out at everything I looked at. I feel as if I have just smoked a bowl.
6:00-10:00 PM: Stopped writing my trip report because I stopped caring. It felt like the best of weed highs with more hallucinations. I suppose to some, this wouldn't be a big deal but I have not been able to smoke weed for months and won't be able to again until April 2005. To experience being incredibly stoned was just what I was looking for. To try and explain any hallucinations would be impossible, just like it is always impossible for me to explain hallucinations I have had while stoned. They are usually very dream-like and only appear when I am very focused on something or have been looking at it for awhile. They also usually occur in darker places and are not in color. I guess they can be described as hallucinated shadow objects that only make sense the moment they are seen. I also had a minor loss of motor skills probably because it felt like I was in slow motion as I walked; very delayed reactions. I experienced this for the rest of the night as I quietly ate dinner with my dad, watched TV, and listened to Jack Johnson’s “On and on”. At this point, the high was well worth the stomach ache of gagging down that wretched, brown powder. I assumed I would just wake up the next day a little more tired than usual and go to school.

6:00 AM: I am awakened to go to school and the second I stand up I realize I’m not going. I was tripping as I was when I went to sleep…with much worse side effects. I am unbelievably tired, I have the worst case of cotton mouth and dehydration in my life, and I am rather nauseous. I can’t open my eyes all the way because they are so dry and my dad said I looked white as a ghost. I immediately went back to sleep.
6:00 PM: I awaken from my slumber at a total of 19 hours of sleep and am still feeling the effects of the nutmeg. It was weaker than at 6 this morning but still heavily felt…and speaking of heavy…I feel twice my damn weight. I drink lots of water to kill the dehydration but I have come to the conclusion that it is impossible to get rid of completely; you have to wait it out. I simply ate and watched TV until 11:00 PM when the sandman visited me again. (I don’t think I mentioned the munchies I have had this whole trip…lots of sweet foods).

6:00 AM: “Well, I am not as bad as yesterday morning” (I proceed to stand up) “Damnit”. I didn’t feel AS bad but I still weigh too much and I’m quite tired. The dehydration is lessened but still existent…”Hmm, forget school”. I didn’t do the project that was due today anyway.
2:00 PM: I awaken from the hibernation that is nutmeg feeling almost normal again! After a 15-hour sleep, I am finally hydrated again. I still feel a small bit of visual effects and I am very mellow. It is 8:25 PM as I write this, and since 2:00 PM I have eaten, and watched TV, and done nothing more and I am quite content with just that.
Final Thought
Yes, like The Jerry Springer show, I have a final thought. Nutmeg is a drug that requires a perfect setting. You must have 3 free days to chill and do nothing more. You need to drink nothing but water and lots of it before, during, and after your trip. Don’t be around your parents either since you get incredibly bad red eye and a minor loss of motor skills during the trip. Don’t drive a car while tripping either. They’re harsh requirements but I have thought of the perfect setting: 3-day camp trip over the summer with the campsite beside a fresh water stream. I probably won’t be doing nutmeg again until summer or longer but I have found this trip well worth it. It was a beautiful trip and it was really refreshing to experience a high so similar to weed again. It would be interesting to combine nutmeg with more stimulating hallucinogens such as LSD, LSA, or Shrooms, may have to try that combo next summer.
