I bought a nasal decongestant and it says the active ingredient is "Xylometazoline Hydrochloride 0.1% w/v"

It says to spray it once into each nostril 1-3 times per day.

I insufflate Oxycodone WAY more than 3 times a day. Is it safe to use this stuff more than the recommended amount? Like after every time I snort a few oxy's?
I'm just trying to clean out my sinuses/nasal passage to avoid infection and minimize any damage.

If it would be a bad idea to use so much of the stuff, would it be safe to "snort" a small amount of saline solution instead?

I looked it up and you're not supposed to use it beyond 5-7 days, or the recommended dose. The reason is that it constricts blood vessels in the nose in order to prevent congestion, but with time your body will adapt by growing new nasal tissue (turbinate hyperplasia) which can permanently block the nose and requires surgery.

You're better off getting a hypotonic saline solution (less salt, more water) if you want to rinse out your nose more often, for the sake of moistening. Just be aware that regular rinsing of the nose can cause sinusitis or chronic rhinitis.

I'm just trying to do as little damage as possible. So you'd advise NOT rinsing my nose after insufflating? It would be best to just leave it alone?

Like the man said, get just saline spray, or buy yourself a neti pot--they're brilliant IMO, what I used when I used to put pills in my nose instead of my veins.

What's a neti pot? And where on earth would one purchase a neti pit or saline spray?
Do I need to use them every time I've done a few lines or just daily?

Can get saline spray at the market in the health section, next to the other nasal sprays. I'd do a squirt of that a while after doing your lines, and use a salt water mixture in the neti pot. Should be able to purchase those at Tesco or the like.

From my experience, nasal sprays with xylometazoline, oxymetazoline, and phenylephrine are usually concentrated more than they need to be. At times, I have had my bottle run out and just added a little bit of water in and there was still enough to clear me out.

But yeah, don't use it more than a few days in a row or it could make things worse. Try just a regular saline solution if anything.
