Will i see a decent government before i die?

I still have faith that the years we'll get under Burnham will at least reverse some of what the Tories did. I'm not going out campaigning for Labour but it's still the least suicidal option at the moment.

I seriously doubt it, but I suppose we've got to give him a chance.

He's got until next week... 😀

nothing wrong with having BOTH good palliative care and assisted suicide, but let's get the palliative care sorted out 1st, then there's less need for suicide. But I'm pro assisted, it just needs to have the right checks and balances and that includes proof that all attempts at palliative care have failed.

if you talk to any GP, they were all at it helping people pass away faster until Shipman got carried away and fuck it up for everyone, now they're too paranoid to do anything.

They killed king George V so his death would make the morning papers because that was more appropriate ffs

The one scandal of King George V’s reign would not be revealed publicly until 1986, in the diary of his physician, Lord Bertrand Dawson. Dawson had written about the night of January 20: “I therefore decided to determine the end and injected (myself) morphia gr. 3/4 and shortly afterwards cocaine gr. 1 into the [king’s] distended jugular vein.” The injection resulted in the king’s death, an act alternately referred to as “euthanasia,” medically assisted suicide, or murder. According to Dawson’s journal, he intended to both grant the king a painless death and to guarantee that his passing would be announced in the morning papers rather than the “less appropriate evening journals.”

Never. In fact, The world is gonna get worse when the antichrist gets on the scene.
Are you a Muslim?

They have a real hard on for the Antichrist, despite it not really featuring in Christian scriptures, which are bullshit anyway.

But then Jesus himself is about two thousand years late. Paul hyped the second coming to death, and there's still nothing.

This will turn some heads on both sides of the border and all political persuasions.

Interesting fact, I didn't know that.

But what a way to go... 😀

Whether you believe it or not, the elite is following the book of revelations step by step. After donald trump gets shot in the face and fakes his death things are gonna ramp up. The real antichrist will get on the stage to reign the upcoming one world government.
There's predictive programming about all of this on movies, songs, tv shows since at least the 70s-80s.
You'll see pretty soon when everything unfolds.

Didn't they already try that and it just resulted in a load of Magas wearing fanny pads on their ears?

the outcome of this is that your own decision isn't sovereign
oh, but it kinda is if ya can see past the provided options available. the actionable take away have consequences whatever that may embody.
illegal to kill yourself
not if they dont catcha.

but for insurance and shit yeah they do not see that as a "valid" means of death.

our savoir needs recognition

By the time I heard that Trump had said out loud somewhere, or posted, in all seriousness, on his Truth Social that he thought he "deserved the Nobel Peace Prize" for his 'great works' or something like that, I wasn't even surprised anymore at his incredible levels of narcissism, self-delusion, and grandiosity.

I may have raised an eyebrow and laughed, but thought no more about it after that.

It was just one more deranged statement, among thousands of others.

I think Tony Blair is in the same category tbh. He seems to see himself as some kind of world statesman, when in fact many see him as a war criminal for his role in being Bush's Poodle in the Iraq war.

I just wish all forms of media would stop reporting on what the "Tony Blair Think-tank" thinks about this, that, and the other. Who fucking cares!? The guy has shown that he has no judgement and has sealed his fate imho.

So what are people thinking about Burnham’s speech at the Labour Conference?

Again, I’d say he’s making some good noises with some promising policies on the agenda.

His National Care Service concept would be a home run… if he hadn’t shafted Scotland yet again!

Scotland has had this for ages - funded from existing taxation, which means Scottish pensioners will be subsiding England. Scottish voters are very much unimpressed.

Taken in concert with several other face slaps from Burnham, think it safe to say the SNP will continue to massively outpace Labour north of the border.

I've not heard the speech as a whole, but was a pledge to cut one part of the triple lock on pensions, if re-elected in 2030, one part of it?

The main groups lobbying for the triple lock to be cut were those already so independently wealthy that they had no personal need for the state pension, and wouldn't have cared if it was worth pennies.

Funny that isn't it!? Just a strange co-incidence!?

The Fucking Tony Blair Think Tank being one prime example; every single member of that group being at least a millionaire. Call me cynical, or call them selfish bastards?

I'm Alright Jack!!

I think Burnham has said he'll cut the earnings growth link, while keeping the state pension inflation linked, or guaranteeing a 2.5% rise, which ever is higher, come April every year.

I suppose this is arguably reasonably fair, the state pension is becoming increasingly expensive and generous, and AFAIK, those hitting state pension age between now and 2030 will be receiving some of the most generous state pensions Britain has seen for a long time. They have grown massively over the last 10 years or so. It's so random how much your financial comfort in retirement can depend on the random chance of politics.

It just pissed me off to hear that all those in favour of scrapping the triple lock were millionaires, although I should not have been surprised by that.

Wouldn't it have made more sense to scrap the state pension entirely for those worth over £1,000,000?

They certainly don't need it, and substantial savings could have easily been made that way.

But of course the rich and powerful make all these decisions, and would never vote to shoot themselves in the feet, like a turkey voting for Christmas.

heard bit of what he's saying, like quite a bit of it.

BUT I've been around long enough to know that it's pissing in the wind until he fucking delivers, wake me back up if he does

Well, he's certainly a better orator than Kier.

I thought he did a bloody good job tbh, and as you say, he's 'making some good noises'.

Can't help feeling that he's promising more than he can deliver though...

Yeh, theres no way where that's going to happen now, unfortunateley.

The ship has sailed, the dream has gone.

We should never have let the EU out of our grasp in the first place...

I wouldn’t be too sure of that - you seen recent polling on this?

Only three constituencies in the country (two Reform, one Restore) still support leaving the EU.

The most recent polling has fully rejoining the EU - not just associate membership or owt - is far and away the most popular view at this point.
