💊 Drug Discussion 💊 Is MDMA getting more dangerous? Is there a resurgence of PMMA/PMA in "MDMA" pills in 2026?

I'm assuming that it's cheaper or easier to make which is why it keeps showing up. As far as manufacturers having a conscience, just look at fentanyl, nizatidine and xylazine as examples.

Cheaper yes though thats debatable as the glycidates are not expensive when bought in bulk.
Easier in the sense that the precursors are entirely legal worldwide and cheap. Otherwise it is the exact same synthetic process except instead of starting from the chemical "Safrole" it starts from a similar compound called "Anethole". If one could make PMMA then one could just as easily make MDMA.

I struggle to see how it's anything but a conscious decision to do it, not sure the cost is a big enough factor.

availability of precursors might mean they are only able to make PMMA instead of MDMA yes, but I suspect it's just that simple, they make the decision to do that and then pass it off as MDMA knowing the risks that brings.

they simply don't care about the people taking it if it means they still make some money

I have no idea what PMA / PMMA is but I'd still try a nice dose of some, it can't be that far removed from a MDMA high or the pill market would crash.
It can't be worse than a big dose of MDA, I'd take some & see what happens.

WTF would anyone buy this for? In near dangerous levels the effects before your body goes mad is a mild MDMA effect!!!!!

Why would people buy pills if you have a high chance of taking this, it's nothing like MDMA.

well the issue is people aren't buying it, they think they're buying MDMA.

and most things are dangerous/toxic at a high enough dose, PMMA just has a narrower window and requires a lower amount to get your into trouble compared to MDMA which is where people get into difficulties.

MDMA can cause arrhythmias and hypertension....

having slept on it, if the effect of PMMA/PMA in it's own right were that good then I think the RC market would have been using this out of choice by now.

I'd still give it a try maybe, but would be doing it intentionally at appropriate doses

It's a good thing I really can't face being out till 6-7-8am off my tits on MDMA or some weird drug cocktail these days.
Gimme a good podcast on a Serial Killer, weed, Pregab, snacks & coffee & I can be alone, maybe toss in some good heroin too & I'm more than happy.

I've not touched MDMA in several decades, if I was to source any it would have to be from some Tor place & if I was going to that much effort I'd prefer to source good MDPV then MDMA so I don't think I'll ever need to worry about PMA etc being an issue for me but I do feel for those who want to get decent pills & end up with some weird & toxic drug stew.

not seen MDPV on DNMs for ages, seems to have disappeared
 
From the tiny bit of research I did, it's seems that PMA/PMMA is a bit cheaper to produce than MDMA. This seems to be a case of some unscrupulous actors deciding to squeeze a tiny bit more profit out :( Lame.

that was my 1st thought too but the cost difference just doesn't really justify it I think.

my hunch is it's more precursor availability for a single scumbag manufacturer

20 years ago I would argue that any malice would be a passive effect of greed and not giving a shit.

But what I would have argued was a crazy statement now makes total sense. Hurting people is a hobby that I first encountered on here following 2016. The crew from the lounge realized that their first amendment rights were being challenged by moderators who could not accept that Americans are better than everyone else and that a privately owned site thought their UA was something members actually agreed to.

People have not enjoyed such levels of hate in their lifetimes. Your point is valid, why would criminals not want to play God just for shits and giggles?

MDMA has been rubbish since 2008. The old synth left impurities which made the old pills so euphoric.

The current ones, lots of stretching and rolling around. I don't even get pupil dilation any more.

you're buying crap

stick to good suppliers of crystal MDMA rather than pills, I was doing pills in the late 90s and early 00s, took a break for 20 years and the crystal is very good imho - not the same as MDMA and MDA combined pills sure, but every bit as good as straight MDMA back in the day
