Hi everyone,I want to share my recreational experience with Elvanse (US brand name: Vyvanse; generic: lisdexamfetamine) and ask for pharmacological explanations. Two things confuse me: why my euphoric response collapsed after only a few sessions, and why my subjective effect curve doesn't match the published pharmacokinetics.Context:Male, 180 cm (5'11"), 60 kg (132 lbs).Diagnosed with ADHD. The sessions below were recreational: doses above my prescription, taken intentionally for euphoria. I am not looking for dosing advice, only mechanisms. Before Day 1, I had taken lisdexamfetamine intermittently about 5–8 times over 3–4 weeks.Sessions:Day 1 – 60 mgEuphoria 50/100, a genuine "high".Peak around T+2.5–3.5 h; euphoria lasted until about T+6 h.Normal sleep that night.Day 2 – 50 mgEuphoria 0/100. Only cognitive focus.Day 8 – 70 mgSlight euphoria at onset only, then zero. Focus remained.Day 20 – 90 mgEuphoria ~30/100 at onset, dropping to 5–10/100 for the rest of the day.My watch recorded a peak heart rate of 149 bpm during the day; later, sitting in a car without exertion, it was back to 70–75 bpm.Despite the normal pulse, I felt a non-painful but noticeable chest pressure, best described as if my chest were "underwater".Strong goosebumps (piloerection).Severe insomnia: couldn't sleep for about a full day.Day 46 – 75 mg (after a strict 26-day abstinence break)Euphoria only ~18/100 at onset, then zero.Remaining effects: elevated heart rate and focus only.No goosebumps or chest pressure this time.Storage conditions:Days 1–8: bathroom drawer at home, normal room temperature.Around Day 20: carried in my backpack.Days 21–46: mostly stored in my room at normal temperature, but also carried in my backpack during a beach trip with direct sun exposure (approx. 30–35°C / 86–95°F). Never refrigerated.Other factors:Always taken between 7:00 and 9:30 a.m., mostly fasted.Caffeine: rare, about one cup every 4 days.Nicotine/alcohol: one isolated episode about 10 days before Day 46 (2 cigarettes, blood alcohol approx. 1.2 ‰, i.e. 0.12% BAC in US notation). Otherwise none.Supplements: creatine regularly, ashwagandha occasionally. My questions:Why did the duration of euphoria shrink from ~6 hours (Day 1) to ~1–1.5 hours (Day 46), despite a 26-day break in between? Why is the intensity of euphoria so low even after full abstinence (18/100 vs 50/100 on Day 1)? Is this typical rapid hedonic tolerance (opponent-process / dynorphin upregulation), or is the first-exposure "novelty effect" simply not reproducible? Why does my subjective curve peak at T+1.5 h and feel "over" by T+2.5–3 h, instead of the published T+3.5–4.5 h peak and 10–14 h duration? Could heat exposure have partially hydrolyzed the prodrug into immediate-release d-amphetamine, or am I just an unusually fast metabolizer?Cardiovascular: are a peak of 149 bpm and the "underwater" chest pressure at 90 mg in a 60 kg (132 lbs) person something that needs a medical workup (ECG etc.), or an expected exaggerated noradrenergic response? Thanks in advance for any mechanistic insights!
