Wow so at the very last second, the DEA decided not to place 7-OH in schedule 1 while placing MGM-15,16, and mitragynine pseudoindoxyl into schedule 1.
I don't like when any drug becomes jailable, but I am a bit confused and somewhat irritated by the inconsistency in messaging from the federal government.

I'm not personally invested, but I know that many companies either sold off their stocks of 7 at dirt cheap prices to consumers as well as other shady companies like "Buzzers" (whole thread about them as well) and also as we've seen here even on BL, consumers totally freaking out.

I'm not sure what their reasoning was, maybe it was that 7-OH does exist in the plant naturally, and that extracts and concentrates of leaf would now contain illegal amounts of 7?
Thoughts?

To anyone who was freaking out, I guess this is your lucky day. Ofc, it could still be scheduled at any moment but for now it remains federally legal.

Part of this is the companies for mixing stupid shit in there and not taking safety precautions. I meen these dumbasses seem like they want too get this shit banned by mixing sketchy shit in like F-Phenibut and tianeptine...We'll sketchy to the average drug user and pain patient most them dont know what that shit is so they get fucked up on it and take it everyday then they do something stupid and die and whole thing gets banned

No I don't. Someone on IG told me they're holding back til sept 10 though I don't think that person is well informed and is an idiot. They tried to tell me that 7 wasn't included in the original NOI, and it clear is stated right here on the DEA's website. Kratom industry full of idiots btw.

There's also already an independent act moving through congress so I do believe 7 will be scheduled at some point regardless.

jftr

i would be super pleased if a "heading" of 7-OH and other like extractions/syntheses(es) could have one other than "kratom". maybe mitra or something. not familiar with the products (yet) so dont know how they fit in re: labelling.
kratom is kinda misleading like the sales pitch. harmless and "natural". idk maybe im just bitchin cause every time now kratom comes up its usually not the case. i like kratom. it interests me.

im addicted to kratom... how much?... oh about five pills a day of 7-oh... oh, shit not sure what to yell ya but try tapering....

sorry

but yeah not hatin glad some have a reprieve of sorts maybe trying to get off now (or get as low as possible) before they flip.
they outlaw everything so $ can be made, bruv.
cant make $ on healthy peeps.

they really should just let people do what the fuck they want. we will eventually get tired of it, age out, move on to something else or just die. ive been there, too. bunch of predators about, for sure....
boogieman around/on every corner, indeed.

And then I read today that they finally made it officially illegal? Yet when I looked for confirmation, I couldn't find it. Dunno, the news on this sure yo-yos a lot. I think it will indeed be illegal soon, but the exact date is awfully fuzzy.
Maybe they are making these changing announcements so someone can scoop up higher profits with insider information

Yeah it can be hard, the media doesn't really understand what they're reporting when it comes to nuances of drug nomenclature. If we check the official DEA website we see 7-OH is not yet listed on their list while MGM-15, 16, and Mit Pseudoindoxyyl are all schedule 1. I am going to assume that 7-OH remains legal for the time being.

There's also this announcement by the HHS filed Aug 26th which extends the public commentary period by 13 days. That tells me a lot of people are commenting.
DEA does not need to follow them/their guidance but it is assumed they are waiting for the commentary period to end.

Yeah, I’ve been following this pretty closely. The whole situation is confusing, especially with 7-OH being treated differently from MGM-15/16 and pseudoindoxyl.

I’ve used regular kratom products for a while, and Happy Hippo has been one of the brands I’ve personally used. What I care about most is knowing what I’m actually getting, so I’m hoping the focus stays on things like testing, labeling, and product consistency rather than lumping every kratom-related product into the same category.

The distinction between traditional kratom and isolated/concentrated alkaloids seems like it’s going to become a much bigger issue. I guess we’ll have to see how the regulations develop from here, because I doubt this is the last word on it.

That is interesting af considering 7-oh is what was targeted specifically?

Wonder if the old headshop put they stock back on the shelves yet -- any precedent there. (says the guy too lazy to call the head shop)
