Why blow a bowl while making a meth pipe?

Hello, I think I am going to blow my oil burner from a cigar tube instead of buying one just for a change. Pyrex oil burners where I?m from are ridiculously cheap, less than the price of a soda in fact. I just want to try something new. I think I understand how to do it, but I?m unsure as to why it?s important to blow out a bulbous bowl instead on just putting a hole in the glass. If anything it seems like the smallest thing possible to hold the dope would be good because then it doesn?t crystallize throughout a big area and it?d melt easier and faster. I?m sure that the classic pookie design has its purpose but I can?t seem to figure out what it would be. Thank you!

I'm gonna move this to drug culture.

The reasoning behind it is extremely simple, the thinner you can get the dope spread on the glass the less likely it is to burn. If you've got a thick puddle of dope on the bottom it's sitting on top of itself when It melts, which means that you're losing vapor from the dope on bottom not being able to vaporize, instead it just gets hotter and burns.

Burnt dope=wasted dope=very sad tweaker

Btw if you are experienced the light bulb pipe is the king of the jungle.

According to some studies and research here, the so‑called Pyrex oil‑burner pipe never actually existed. After reading through the posts, I kind of agree. Sometimes I wonder why people keep searching for it — it’s like a shared daydream that there’s a Pyrex version of oil burner pipe made by a publicly listed company, even though there’s no real evidence it was ever produced.

Didn't read the whole thing, but obviously they meant the same material Pyrex glassware is made out of, not that the Pyrex company makes meth pipes.

That makes more sense.

Pyrex used to hold the patent on Borosilicate glass :
a tough type of glass made with silica and boron triox
ide

It handles sudden heat changes very well without cracking. People use it to make science lab tools, cooking dishes, etc.

Would people have been able to fashion a meth pipe out of a different kind of Pyrex item that Pyrex does or did produce, by blowing?

Yeah, lots of stuff is made from it. The original use (in 1915) was for railroad signal lanterns that would have to be used in rain and snow storms without exploding. Corning ( the former manufacturer), just produced it in bulk quantities and other companies would source it from them or licensed third parties. Once it's made one uses it in a similar fashion than any other glass stock.

"Half a brick in a Pyrex pot
Tryna make me a dope boy knot
Two pounds of the light green mid
Junkie never seen a nick' so big"
