the trick is to not be afraid of xanax

This is bad advice. The Xanax should be used judiciously as one would not want to develop a benzo addiction (not to mention that the half-life is significantly shorter than something like Valium, meaning compulsive redosing and ensuing addiction could be a problem).

Should she use the Xanax for some relief in the short term at the lowest doses she can? Absolutely. With that said, telling someone not to "be afraid of Xanax" is really, really stupid.
