Cocaine How do you actually judge COKE quality?

Hey, I’ve been reading a lot here and trying to understand how people actually judge coke quality in real life.



There’s a lot of talk about things like texture, stickiness, dryness, smell, how it breaks up, etc., but also a lot of conflicting opinions.



I’m especially curious if anyone here ever had something that was actually tested (reagent or even lab) and then compared it with what they expected.



If you’re up for sharing:

- how did it look/feel? (powdery, clumpy, sticky, dry, “fluffy”, etc.)

- any noticeable smell?

- how did it behave physically? (breaking up, dissolving, moisture)

- and how did the effects compare to what you expected?



Also curious if anything surprised you — like something that looked “good” but wasn’t, or the opposite.



Not looking for sources or anything like that, just trying to understand how reliable these signs really are in practice.

Take a little rock, rub it between your fingers, it should disappear and become oily and kinda sticky.

If there is anything left between your fingertips that wont become transparent oil, it's cut.

Put a little rock in water it should dissolve entirely, be totally transparent with oily stain. If there is anything not dissolving it's cut, cocaine is water soluble.

Smell can be very different, kerosene or gasoline is common.

As for the taste, it's quite recognizable, numbs you but not too much (if it numbs you too much, lidocaine), reminds of fish sometimes.

Obviously "pure" coke shouldn't smell and should be totally white, but depending of method of production, cocaine can look like shiny almost dry snow (fishscale) but also yellowish greasy and oily rocks. The latter is often better. Often the coke olives coming from human mules are superior than bricks. If the coke is too dry or solid it's often cut.

But this is just basic tips, none of that will determine the actual quality of you gear. Best is to get it tested of course.

Acetone washed looks a bit different but is far better, there a few DNM sellers who are doing double washed these days with something else as well but I forget what it is

I like when it is in big chunks. They're kind of shiny and a bit almost damp feeling. It's a little bit sticky like when you break it down with a razor it clumpsc and stick to the razor.

If it's fine powder and dry it's likely cut.

It also has that good ol funky yay smell. Hard to explain. I was just reintroduced after not using it for maybe 20 years and knew the smell immediately.

My friend's call that smell "ether based". I know exactly what you mean.

If it's really powdery like other says it's not good. It's one of those things where you know it if you see it. It's worth doing a wash yourself to get familiar with how it should look, taste, feel and smell.

Generally, in any given area one or two main people will be getting good stuff. The further it gets away from them before it finds its way to you the worse it'll be. I've only done cocaine a handful of times in my life. I'd done both the bad and the really good. The really good is entirely different in every way. My favorite part is you don't fiend for it like the crappy stuff, you are able to sleep afterwards (if you stop) and it doesn't give you that classic shitty cocaine headache.

Some of the cuts some people use are really bad. There was something in the cocaine where I live around the mid-late 2000s that was causing abnormal growths in people's throats. A doctor came down to study the effects of it and everything. It was some really powdery stuff that barely had a smell and was obviously cut with some kind of speed and lidocaine. I only tried it once but I had a friend that was taking it often. He quit because his dealer was doing it all day everyday and ended up having to have a large growth cut out of his throat.

The same guy introduced me to a dude that had straight fire cocaine. Best I've ever done to this day. He laid out a line for me because I was sleep deprived and it woke me right up. Made my hands shake for 10+ minutes and got my heart thumping but not in a bad way. Didn't desire any more when offered some later. Did not take anymore the rest of the day. A couple of hours later he took me home and I was able to sleep as soon as my head hit the pillow. Really good shit. Later on another friend picked up some more of similar quality off a different person. The price we paid for it was more than responsible and comparable to what I've heard people paying for garbage.

Everything coming into the country seems to be pretty decent. It's just about how many hands it sees before it finds its way to you. Since everyone adds a little cut to increase profits along the way. When in doubt wash it. At the very least you'll be able to see how much you're getting fucked over.

It’s really almost impossible to judge, which is probably why you hear a lot of opinions.

It should attract water quite aggressively, especially if it’s humid.

After this it gets really subjective and unreliable in my opinion.

Smell and taste and look are usually things you can use to rule out stuff rather than confirm quality because of the clever cuts.

Bad stuff to look out for. Glitter (boric acid, usually after it’s been pulverized - added to give a fish scale look at first). Still can be fine quality. Hairspray smell (humans generally have a bad sense of smell, so gasoline smells like ether smells like etc etc.). Very very strongly scented stuff is probably not clean but still might be high concentration. Taste is distinctive, but things get close. Straight up bitterness probably isn’t right. Lack of any bitterness isn’t right.

Big dull or glittery rocks or loose powder that can sit out for ages during the summer are really bad signs.

Iridescent (pearly) sticky rocks with little to no powder that gets annoyingly more clumpy over time is a good sign. Bonus if it becomes unworkable on a very humid day hehe.

Numbing is hard because it’s difficult to distinguish. Broad quick numbing usually means it’s been cut with some caine, but almost everything is.

Levamisole kinda extends the effect as it is metabolized. Again, very common.

Depending on your area it’s impossible to find uncut. Look for signs of rerock, which means whoever cut it particularly doesn’t care about your wellbeing, and someone in the line is going to great lengths to hide the cut which is a very very bad sign.

In my experience it can either be very brittle rock hard chunks or very soft and oily. Both have been very potent in my experience but the very best of the best usually has little to no scent when dissolved in water and once it enters water it just vanishes and is clear/slightly iridescent. I basically see it as two grades, the brittle stuff is very good and usually affordable but still expensive and that other shit was super fucking expensive and no edge whatsoever to the high but would get your heart all fucked up if you did too much.

IMO though perfect quality isn't everything. Sure the side effects of cut stuff can get in the way but it will still get you a coke high even if you have to do more. It blows my mind when people are like oh this stuff I had back in the day had zero negative side effects. All coke is going to make you feel like shit in excess the pure shit just lets you focus on the good part of it more than the bad. I would rather have a shit ton of mid grade stuff than a little packet of the best stuff.

Not a big Coke or stim guy overall.
But once every few years i can appreciate a few lines of good cocaine in the right setting.

In my limited experience high quality blow keeps me quite satisfied for at least a hour after a line.
Sure if i keep it up long enough i will start doing bigger lines more often after awhile.
Whereas weaker stuff you tend to start chasing from start and never really get satisfied.

Also the crash is way smoother on purer stuff.
Although if you take enough its gonna suck either way.

I like the smell of gasoline. That's a preference. Not an indicator. in data banks or software wont tell you if its a second wash..... I dont encourage these steps. If you thought drugs we're dangerous, wait till you try getting the point across to people whose ego is attached to that sparky attitude and draw attention from policy to glamorize epidemics. I have failed to see how so many Don't hope or expect that there are plenty of results that could point to regions of the brain and receptors for petroleum or gasoline.

Make freebase and see how much you get out of a gram. If it's pure, you should get about 0,9g (using ammonia - baking soda yields more crack, but less pure).

the coke on each of these occasionally looked and smelt like any other coke I have bought.

the first was in 2010 - got some off the DNM with some mates - and we all did a small line (maybe 40-60mg) and straight away I got pure euphoria and confidence. we were talking non stop for about an hour - almost MDMA like, listening to and empathizing with each other. then a gentle comedown.

again I had this experience in 2018..on day 6 of a music festival when I was exhausted, thought I had depleted all my serotonin and dopamine. a mate gave me a small bump of coke - I was so surprised. it was pure euphoria and I felt like I was on day 1 again of the festival..I found the dealer and bought a gram and stayed up all night..after the last line at 5-6am it took 1 hour and I was asleep. no rough jittery comedown. I could talk to anyone and empathise with them. I never felt anxious or speedy.

I have had coke probably 200+ times and those 2 stand out becaue of how clean the comedown was, the euphoria and the small amounts needed.

I don't do coke anymore because I know here in Australia I will never find stuff like that again. the price vs feeling isn't worth it for me

“End result with features” is so vague it’s hard to tell what you are even saying. Are you saying that trace solvents materially influence how a mix handles that starts out dry? Or that you prefer stank stuff? Or that you just don’t agree with any of the above? Not sure how mass spec experience factors into some dude essentially asking how he can tell bunk.

I’m also highly suspicious if you’re implying that you touched anything that was analyzed as a participant in a “collegiate program”. The training needed to get through the red tape and touch something more than a trace or highly diluted solution like this in a lab is ridiculous.

I dont care to speculate further.

I’ve got a plug who gets his stuff tested by a company, he’s a big time slinger. Has 5 bricks to choose from at a time.
Two years ago he had a brick that came back 99% pure. I thought it was bullshit. But he’s credible so I don’t think he’s altered it. I think it may be a typo by the company on the results. His stuff always tests 80%+

Yeah, I’ve had the same experience. Im from England and I was in Mexico on holiday and got a connection, a taxi driver, all the taxi drivers sell it over there but this guy has the good stuff. I dabbed it before buying it, tasted amazing, looked great so got the gram, I was walking back to my hotel room and the whole of the bottom of my face was numb.

It was kinda fluffy and had a yellow tinge to it and it rocked my world!
Like you say, no jitters, just pure, powerful euphoria. 1 gram lasted me and my girl all night.

I wish people wouldn’t fuck with coke. Especially now, it’s cheap enough!
