What Brand Syringe is the best? How do I ask for them?

In your opinion,..what is the best kind of syringes? Size and brand?
I was always told/saw the insulin syringes were the best. (28 G X 1/2" 1 CC., But all I can find online is mostly 29g)
I get paid in a few weeks and want to order some online, But I would like to know what I should get so Im not wasting money just guessing what I should buy.

OHh...and I would think 1" needles would be better than 1/2, am I wrong?

Usually 1/2" needles are good for people whos veins don't show. If you have prominent veins, try a 5/16" (even shorter). Almost all IV drug users I know use insulin syringes. I would say the best needles to use are BD ultra-fine 31 gauge 1/2" insulin syringes.
Well the BEST syringes would be the BD 31 gauge IV syringes, by those are like $.50 a piece which gets pricey.

I am currently using the Easy Touch brand 29 gauge 1/2" insulin syringes, which are pretty decent also.
Monoject brand is pretty shitty tbph. The Truemo are also nothing to write home about.
 
Ok, so I would probably need the 1/2", since my veins dont show.
So either 29g or 31g is ok though? But I should go for 31?
Instead of waiting for my next pay check and having to worry about who will get my package when its delivered, I think tomorrow or Thursday I will just go to Walgreens (I read you dont need a Rx there in my state) and see if I can get them there, it will also save on shipping cost. Im really nervous though.

Another thing, not about syringes. Last night I had almost 20mg hydrocodone, 3 beers 5.9%, and smoked some weed. I had a good buzz going, and then started to nod off, I almost felt like I was on heroin, except for that slight alcohol spin going in my head. Does anyone else get that? Or was it just to much for my body?
 
I get great nods on hydrocodone.

there are, of course 30 gauge also.

just go to walgreens, be confident, calm, and collected, and ask for " One box of 31 gauge long-point 100 unit insulin syringes."

or you could get a bag of 10 and see how you like the 31 gauge compared to the 30's or 29's. lower numbers = thicker needle.
 
Maybe I should try a less popular store first =S lol, its only a block farther then Walgreens.

I dont know the other site well, so Im going to stick to any advice I get from here.

Honestly, I have the very best luck at Walgreens. Actually nobody has ever refused to sell me syringes.

You just gotta be confident and know what you are asking for and also know what the lingo is regarding buying insulin syringes.

100 units = 1mL, 50 units = .5mL.
long point = 1/2", short points = 5/16"
just always ask for BD cuz they are by far the best and everyone I know who actually takes injections prefers them.
 
Really? Maybe I will try Walgreens then. I never go back to the pharmacy area, but Im a regular to the store. I think thats why Im nervous, I can easily slip to the back though.

Im pretty confident I can do it. But I have this natural stutter I get when talking to new people. If I can keep that under control I should be ok.

DO you think it would be better if I drive or walk there? I kinda want to walk and just put the box in my bag and hurry home. Im afraid for some reason they may watch my plate numbers if I drive, and Im using my moms car right now.

Ok ok, maybe Im just over thinking. Ill walk over there tomorrow before I go to work, ask confidently, and itll be ok.
 
what? Don't be silly. Buying syringes is perfectly legal - the sooner you realize that, the better off you will be. If you really need help, write it down and just hand the note to the pharmacist and say your aunt is in town or something...

The smaller the guage (higher numerically: example 31guage is smaller than 29) the smaller the needle and quicker it will dull. Smaller needles tend to leave smaller marks on your skin tho and are much easier on your hands and easier to hide. (that's where I hit mostly)
My personal favorite are the walmart house brand, Relion. I like them better, even than the popular BD brand. They seem to have the fewest barbs and the plungers don't pull forward while vein fishing.
My favorite is 29 guage , 1cc, 1/2" long. Everyone has their preference tho. You're way over thinking it. Do you know how to hit? Have you ever even done it before?
Only ask cause you're worried about this, but not paid for a few weeks and you're only information on needles is what you've been told or saw.
 
I always preferred Terumo. I find their plunger to be smoother than the others. I also preferred 27/28 gauge, due to the easier register.
 
No, ive nevet IVed before, but im confident that I can. I know a lot. Just not the best needle size.
I went to 3 differeny pharmacies, none of them would sell them to me without proof I use insuline.
I think it will be easier just to buy them online with no questions asked.
I have no internet right now, so it took me alll day to find this thread on my phone, lol.
I may go to a friends and pay him cash to use his card to pay for them and use his computer.

P.S. I tried Walgreens, CVS, and a little drug store. They suck, ugh.
 
BD are good syringes. Reliable, sturdy. But I must admit the Easy touches are WAY smoother. If you re use a syringe (not reccomended but if you clean it with alchol after you use it its not the worst thing you can do. But only if it was you who used it. Never risk HIV) the BD tend to stick sometimes. But I usually just get BD cause my local pharmacy only has them.

SO to answer your question. You can try saying with confidence "1cc 31G Insulin syringes" 31G is the smallest needle size and saying insulin sub conciousley makes em think "oh just for insulin" lowering your chances of refusal.

also , can u iv with a thick i.m needle? i went to 5 chemists and they denied sale , all i got is intramuscular fits

and just walk in , ask nicely being polite , try not to dress like a bum or obvious junga and ul b sweet , aslong as they sell em lol
 
How old are you??? Wal Greens has never refused me, though literally every other place has :(
 
Some areas have local ordinances too that prohibit distribution without a prescription. That could be the reason if 3 places asked. Plus, some areas are just more strict. If you don't need it right away, online delivery is the best.
The BD's are usually the most expensive, but I prefer the Relions from Walmart or the Terumos I get from the exchange. I like to keep different guages, needle lengths depending on injection site. And it's not always possible to get the one you want from the brand you want, so you have to pick and choose sometimes. But, I think 28 guage 1cc 1/2" length is a good all around size if you have to choose just one size.
Just be careful since you're gonna be a new injector. I'm sure you know, but There's tons of info on here about correct technique, how to prep, reduce risk of infection...all that. Once you get a routine down it all becomes second nature.
 
In my area, generally every pharmacy is a complete asshole in regards to selling points. Luckily, walgreens literally a minute from my house never refused, nor EVER hesitated to sell to me. I just go in, act kind of naive, pull out my phone, and read off a document I wrote with which I need, I generally say 'I need to get [blank family members] insulin syringes' and they get them, thus so I do not get turned down. I happen to enjoy 31g 1cc insulin syringes. 30g seems too fat for me, I can definitely tell the difference.

I'd like to see this thread if you can link me to it. I'm good at IV'ing now, but, certainly not perfect yet. Some days I can hit everytime, others I have to poke around which is very, very, very fucking frustrating.
